English word origins:
bald - 1297, ballede, probably from Celt. bal "white patch, blaze" especially on the head of a horse or other animal (from PIE base *bhel- "gleaming, white") + M.E. -ede adjectival suffix. The PIE base is also the source of Skt. bhalam "brightness, forehead," Gk. phalos "white," L. fulcia "coot" (so called for the white patch on its head),
Alb. bale "forehead", O.C.S. belu "white," Lith. balnas "pale." The proper name Ballard probably means "bald head," cf. Wyclif "Stye up, ballard," where Coverdale translates "Come vp here thou balde heade"

COLLOIDAL SILVER IS GROWING HAIR FOR ME.
Folks I KNOW this is hard to believe... sounds like a JOKE. It is NOT.
I have 'male pattern baldness' inherited mostly from my Dad's side. I began losing my hair gradually about age 35 and now at almost 50 I had become 'billiard ball' bald, extending along the sides to the part line of my hair. The process took about 10 or 12 years.
In the past couple of years, I have become AMAZED at all the uses I find for my home made CS. I use it for deodorant, mouthwash and gargle, after shave, anticeptic, athelete's foot, sore throat, ear ache, eye infection, heatrash, fungicide -- almost everything in the medicine cabinet is replaced and I am VERY healthy.
Anyway, I decided to try an experiment on my hair loss. I switched shampoos from a generic mild shampoo with sodium laureth sulfate to ammonium Laurel sulfate, Eckerd Extra Mild Shampoo or Neutrogena brand. But I must add that I have purchased this shampoo in the past and I never observed any new hair growing. I used it in the experiment because I simply wanted a quality shampoo that left little residue on my scalp, sort of a good clean follicular 'degreaser', so to say.
And then after each shampoo I began to pour about 2 tablespoons of full strength 15ppm CS into my palm and rub it onto my naked scalp. I just let it air dry then, and just went on for 24hrs until my next shampoo.
Within 2 weeks I was sprouting new hair, long dark hairs, not grey hair like 90% of the rest. It was sparse but noticable as the 'new arrivals' began to pop up...
Within a month my hairline was closing in on the sides. More singles were popping up to join the first hairs to sprout.
At present and after 60 days or so, the preocess is slowly increasing and I have no idea how long it will continue. I seem to see what looks like peach fuzz gradually starting on my scalp too. Now maybe that is just being too hopefull... but time will tell.
I expect that in the near future I will reach a plateau of the effects and I can expect no more progress. But I wonder what effect this process might have had if I had begun when I was 35 and the hair was just starting to fall out... I wish I had known then, what I know now.
Now after two months I am giving you my report. I swear that I tell you at GIM the truth as I see it -- and my observations are backed up by casual friends around me -- they can see how the hairs are popping back in each week, and my hairline is ever so slowly encroaching upward into the previously bald area. But its still very thin, I doubt a camera could show the hair if not in macro close-up focus... but (hundreds, a thousand of ?) new hairs are there now for sure.
I wish I could get rich off this experimentation of mine -- and if any of you can figure out a way please include me on your business plans. People NEED to know about Colloidal Silver -- we have all been hyp-KNOW-tized by the 'magicians and sorcerers' of modern Over The Counter chemistry perhaps.
BTW; I once tried 'Rogain' about 10 years ago and did not notice nearly this much effect in one year of use. It DID IRRITATE my scalp, so I quit any effort and then never looked back... until now with SILVER.
If any of you care to join me in this hair regrowth experiment, I say go for it! See if I am right.

OK. I'll try it. I'm almost 50 and my hairline has receded (re-seeded, I wish) about 3 inches. It really looks awkward on me since my skull is short, front to rear.
I'll use a mister and spray it on a few times a day and see what happens. It won't cost me anything to try.
I had a co-worker once who was bald at a young age and he flew to New Jersey to have hair woven into his scalp. This was not a transplant, but clumps of dead hair woven into his scalp. When he bent over the top of his head looked like a barbie doll. We went offshore to our gas platforms that week and someone had put a couple bottles of bleach in the potable water tank to disinfect it (maybe a seagull had gotten in). By the end of the week after taking several showers in that water his "new" hair had turned blond in contrast to his natural hair which was brown.
In disgust, the poor fella had all his expensive new hair removed the following week.
If it works, colloidal silver would be a heck of a lot easier and cheaper.

Another thought. Maybe I should stop washing my face in it, otherwise, I'll have to shave twice a day? Three times? Hopefully not ten times, like Agnut likes to think...

Question: Is male-pattern baldness inherited through the mother?
Answer: It was long thought that inheritance of male-pattern baldness was a fairly simple matter involving a single unidentified dominant gene, and many assumed it was passed on by the mother on the X chromosome. A copy of the form of the gene that predisposes to baldness was thought to mean that a man would lose hair in the typical pattern. The gene was thought to have reduced effects or to be recessive in women, who needed two copies for baldness.
However, this view was based on a relatively small study of 22 families done in 1916, and more recent research suggests a more complex situation, one involving multiple genes, not necessarily passed on in the maternal line, and one with an additive effect with each gene involved.
A larger Australian study reported in The Journal of Investigative Dermatology did not identify a candidate gene as the cause. It found no clear pattern of inheritance but said that there was a relatively strong correspondence between baldness tendencies in fathers and sons.
However, baldness in the men on either the mother's side or the father's side of the family is associated with a higher chance of developing baldness.
Male-pattern baldness has been linked to hormone levels, and candidate genes are those involved in androgen production and conversion of androgen into a hormone called dihydrotestosterone.
There are two main drugs used to treat male pattern baldness:
*
Minoxidil (Rogaine) -- a solution that you apply directly to the scalp to stimulate the hair follicles. It slows hair loss for many men, and some men grow new hair. The previous degree of hair loss returns when you stop applying the solution.
*
Finasteride (Propecia, Proscar) -- a prescription pill that inhibits the production of the male hormone dihydrotestosterone. Like minoxidil, you are more likely to have slower hair loss than actual new hair growth. In general, it is somewhat more effective than minoxidil. The previous degree of hair loss returns when you stop taking the drug.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The compositions for stimulating hair growth, preventing hair loss, reducing hair loss, or minimizing hair loss of the present invention include topical applications and/or an oral dosages which include a colloidal metal. Preferably, the colloidal metal may be silver, platinum, gold, copper, zinc or tin. More preferably, the colloidal metal is silver.
Colloidal silver is produced as is known in the art by passing DC current through pure silver electrodes placed into distilled or de-ionized water. For optimum effectiveness, it is important that the water used contain normal amounts of trace minerals. If required, minerals may be added to the distilled or de-ionized water. In addition, saline may be added to enhance conductivity as is known in the art. As one suitable example of the known method and apparatus for the making of colloidal silver, please refer to Colloidal Silver Making and Using Your Own, Mark Metcalf, 1998, incorporated herein by reference.
In a first embodiment, the present invention includes a colloidal metal solution to be applied directly to the hair or scalp. Preferably the solution includes colloidal silver in distilled or de-ionized water, at an effective concentration to produce new hair growth, reduce hair loss, and/or to prevent or minimize hair loss. More preferably, sea salt, epson salt and/or trace minerals are added to the distilled or de-ionized water prior to the production of the colloidal silver.
Preferably, the concentration of colloidal metal in the water is between about 1 parts per million (.mu.g/ml) to about 1000 .mu.g/ml. More preferably, the concentration of colloidal metal is between about 1 .mu.g/ml to about 750 .mu.g/ml, even more preferably, between about 50 .mu.g/ml to about 500 .mu.g/ml and most preferably, between about 250 .mu.g/ml and about 350 .mu.g/ml.
In the method of making, the topical ingredients are mixed together by methods and apparatus as is known in the art. To use, the water containing the colloidal silver is applied directly to the area to be treated. The area to be treated may be wetted with the colloidal silver solution, or the colloidal silver solution may be applied to the area with a cloth or cotton. Preferably, the area to be treated is wetted with the colloidal silver solution to prevent damage to new hair growth by rubbing. After application of the colloidal silver solution, the treated area is then allowed to air dry.
In a second embodiment, the topical application includes a colloidal metal solution and aloe vera. The colloidal metal solution is a colloidal metal, preferably colloidal silver, in distilled or in de-ionized water. Preferably the solution includes colloidal silver at an effective concentration to produce new hair growth, reduce hair loss, and/or to prevent or minimize hair loss. More preferably, the colloidal silver is at a concentration between about 1 parts per million (.mu.g/ml) to about 1000 .mu.g/ml. Even more preferably, the concentration of colloidal silver is between about 20 .mu.g/ml to about 750 .mu.g/ml, still more preferably, between about 50 .mu.g/ml to about 500 .mu.g/ml and most preferably between about 100 .mu.g/ml to about 200 .mu.g/ml. As described above, the colloidal metal solution may be prepared with the addition of sea salt or trace minerals.
The aloe vera may be any aloe vera currently available, but is preferably an aloe vera gel that is at least about 99% pure. More preferably, the aloe vera is an aloe vera gel containing plant and herbs as currently available from Southwest Sunshine Products located in Queen Creek, Ariz. Not wishing to be limited by theory, the inventor believes that one or more of the skin healing, cleaning and protecting plant and herbal components of the aloe vera gel available from Southwest Sunshine products, namely allantoin, arnica flowers, comfrey leaves, horsetail herbal extract, jojoba, collogen, elastin, saponins, chamomile flowers, elkweed, jaborandi leaves, napca and rosemary leaves, enhance the effectiveness of the topical applications of colloidal metal of the present invention. Accordingly, it is believed that one or more of these plant and herbal components may be added as necessary or desired.
Any suitable relative amounts of the colloidal metal solution and aloe vera may be utilized in the present invention provided that the desired stimulation of hair growth, prevention of hair loss or minimization or reduction of hair loss are achieved. Preferably, the topical application includes between about 5% to about 50% by volume colloidal metal solution and between about 50% to about 95% aloe vera by volume, based on the total volume of metal solution and aloe vera, and more preferably between about 15% to about 25% by volume colloidal metal and between about 75% to about 85% aloe vera by volume.
As a alternative to mixing the colloidal silver solution with the aloe vera, the silver electrodes may be inserted directly into the aloe vera gel so that colloidal silver is produced directly in the gel until an effective concentration of colloidal silver, as described above, is obtained.
To use, the colloidal metal aloe vera mixture is applied directly to the area to be treated using application methods as are known in the art.
A third embodiment of the topical application of the present invention includes a colloidal metal solution, aloe vera and at least one of the following items selected from the group consisting of vitamins, iodine, ginseng, and/or vinegar. The colloidal metal solution and aloe vera are as described above in the second embodiment. The vitamins, preferably vitamin A, vitamin E and vitamin D, the iodine, and the vinegar are as currently available in the market. The iodine is preferably BETADINE available from Prude Fredrickson in Norwalk, Conn., and the vinegar is preferably apple cider vinegar available from Heinz in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Any suitable relative amounts of the colloidal metal solution, aloe vera, vitamins and/or vinegar may be utilized in the present embodiment provided that the desired stimulation of hair growth, prevention of hair loss or minimization of hair loss are achieved. The relative amounts of colloidal metal solution and aloe vera are as described above in the second embodiment. Preferably, the third embodiment includes Vitamin A at a concentration of between about 10,000 I.U. and about 50,000 I.U, Vitamin E at a concentration of between about 1000 I.U. and about 8000 I.U. and vinegar at a concentration of about 1% to about 5% by total volume of the colloidal metal solution. Most preferably, the embodiment includes about 3% to about 4% vinegar by volume, about 40,000 I.U. Vitamin A and about 5000 I.U. Vitamin E.
In addition to the above ingredients, the topical applications of the present invention may also contain additions of one or more herbs and other plants in known beneficial amounts. For example, one or more additional rosemary leaves, comfrey leaves, jaborandi leaves, chamomile flowers, arnica flowers, watercress, saponins, and allantoin may be added as desired.
To use, the colloidal metal aloe vera mixture containing vitamins, vinegar, herbs and/or other plants, is applied directly to the area to be treated.
The inventor also believes an oral administration of colloidal metal prepared as described above in distilled or de-ionized water is beneficial in promoting new hair growth and preventing or minimizing hair loss. Preferably, the administration includes a daily dosage of colloidal silver. Preferably, the dosage includes between about 1 teaspoon and about 64 oz of colloidal silver in distilled or de-ionized water at a concentration of about 1 .mu.g/ml to about 500 .mu.g/ml. More preferably, the dosage includes between about 1 oz and 20 oz of colloidal silver in distilled or de-ionized water at a concentration of bout 50 .mu.g/ml to about 350 .mu.g/ml. EXAMPLES
The following examples are provided merely to illustrate the present invention, and is not intended to limit the scope of the claims.
Example 1
As a non-limiting example, the preferred topical contains between about 250 .mu.g/ml and about 350 .mu.g/ml colloidal silver prepared from commercially available ABITA SPRINGS distilled water. ABITA SPRINGS is located in Abita Springs, La. About 8 oz of ABITA SPRINGS distilled water and 1 drop saline solution is heated to about 150.degree. F. with the current passing through the silver electrodes for about 45 minutes to produce a brown colored colloidal. The saline solution contains about 1/2 teaspoon in about 2 oz of distilled water as described in Colloidal Silver Making and Using Your Own, p. 8, Mark Metcalf, 1998.
Example 2
As a non-limiting example, the preferred drink contains about 100 .mu.g/ml to about 250 .mu.g/ml colloidal silver prepared from DANNON natural spring water. DANNON is located in Pedmont, Quebec Canada. The DANNON water analysis indicates trace materials including bicarbonate, calcium, chlorine, fluoride, magnesium, nitrate, potassium, sodium, sulfate, and dissolved solids and has a pH of around 7. About 16 oz of DANNON water is heated to about 120.degree. F. with the current passing through the silver electrodes for about 8 minutes to produce a silver colored colloidal.
Example 3
As a non-limiting example, the booster includes about 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar, 1 oz water and 1 oz honey taken with a multivitamin and 8000 I.U. Vitamin A and 1000 I.U. Vitamin E as available from Spring Valley, taken once daily. In addition, the booster may include 650 mg Alfafa taken twice daily, 110 mg Acidophillus Rexal, as avialable from Rexall Sundown located in Boco Raton, Fla., taken once daily, 550 mg Kelp, as available from Norwegian Kelp Caps located in Glendale Heights, Ill., taken twice daily, 27 mg iron taken once daily, SILICEA 6.times., available from P&S Lab located in Los Angelos, California, taken once daily, and 100 mg GINSANA taken once daily.

While not wishing to be limited by theory, the inventor believes that the colloidal silver drink of the present invention detoxifies and cleanses cells throughout the body removing by-products and balancing the body's pH to the alkaline side. The inventor also believes that the topical solution of colloidal silver cleanses and removes pollutants that attach themselves to the scalp providing a layered cleansing effect. In addition, the inventor believes that the aloe and herb topical mixture, when charged with silver, promotes an even more powerful cleansing while also providing a healing, softening and protective agent to assist in the regrowth of cells and hair. For a reference on the healing ability of herbs, please see The Healing Herbs ultimate Guide, Michael Castleman, 1991 Bantum Books, incorporated herein by reference. The inventor further believes that his use of the colloidal silver, aloe vera, herbs and supplements in conjunction has resulted in his hair regrowth on the top back and in the temple area of his scalp.
While the illustrative embodiments of the invention have been described with particularity, it will be understood that various other modifications will be apparent to and can be readily made by those skilled in the art without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention. Accordingly, it is not intended that the scope of the claims appended hereto be limited to the examples and descriptions set forth herein but rather that the claims be construed as encompassing all the features of patentable novelty which reside in the present invention, including all features which would be treated as equivalents thereof by those skilled in the art to which this invention pertains.

THANK YOU ZHUKER!!!
IMO:
The JOKE is that BIG PHARMO makes $3.5 billion a year selling patented poison for our hair loss needs while KEEPING KNOWLEDGE OF SILVER AWAY from us sheeple.
The JOKE is that people still do not believe me when I tell them about silver’s countless remarkable pharmaceutical properties.
This patent on silver and MY experience with CS as a hair grower is PROOF (to me) of how we are LIED TO ALL THE TIME.
This is PROOF (to me) that we citizens are MUSHROOMS, grown in the dark and seen as a planned HARVEST for the FARMERS, the Corporate Giants.
Many people laugh at me when I tell them what my CS can do for me, including hair regrowth, and yet they SEE my hair returning and still won't believe it!
I laugh right back, because I know they are just 'TRAINED HOW NOT TO THINK’ better than I can be -- 'trained to not THINK'!
To the Corporate Liars I say: :aetsch: :haha:
"The first thing someone usually tries is some sort of "miracle" shampoo, or rub on lotion. More than 3.5 billion dollars each year is spent on these "tonics" that claim to regrow hair. Most every time, the promises of the product and the expectations of the user are never met. And the hair loss keeps getting worse. Despite claims and advertisements you hear, the only substances ever proven to regrow hair and approved by the FDA are Minoxidil, marketed as Rogaine, and Finasteride, marketed as Propecia"

And then I wonder what else the PTB are LYING ABOUT ... and I get very, very angry... :bash:
WE ALL SHOULD BE ANGRY!
WE ARE JUST A PEOPLE FARM TO THEM!

I will start back using it. I was using it for a fairly short while with no visible results and so I eventually just stopped. I must admit since I am only thinning right now that it would be somewhat difficult to tell one way or the other. I was concentrating on watching the condition of my scalp which appeared a little "angry" as my haircutter-woman said. It appears overly oily and sometimes gets small bumps. I have changed shampoos to try and correct this oily issue, but will go back to applying some CS every day.
Thanks for the encouragement! I know it can't hurt, and maybe it can help!

Hey Z for me it's a moot point. I'm screwed either way. Cue balls on every branch of the tree.
I was bald as a 'cue ball' too, Ihlancers. Now I have real new hair sprouting on top of my head.
Approximate density on the TOP is only maybe 20 per square inch after 60 days. It used to have zero hair there.
The sides are where most of the new members are arriving... All in all, I'd say of an original full head of 40,000 hairs, then losing half of them, I have added maybe 1,000 new hairs up there in all since I started using 15ppm silver after shampooing. Thats in the first 60 days so far.
Please give it a go for 30 days, Ihslancers. If it does not work I'll send you (2) almost-mint (AU condition) bimetallic state quarters for your time in participating in this 'study'. I believe even YOU WILL SPROUT SOME NEW HAIR WITH SILVER, and your scalp will love you too.
You could help us to PROVE this 'overlooked' and amazing home made silver colloid works indeed on regrowing hair -- a $3.5 BILLION Dollar FDA 'hair growth tonic' industry.
And that's not counting the new hair grow PILLS, such as Propecia...

PROPECIA
THE FACTS ARE IN
A 5-year clinical study demonstrated the effectiveness of PROPECIA.
9 of 10 men on PROPECIA had visible results (either regrowth of hair, 48%, or no further hair loss, 42%) vs 25% on placebo (sugar pill), according to an assessment of photographs by an independent panel of dermatologists.
2 of 3 men on PROPECIA regrew hair, as measured by hair count. All the men in the study who were not taking PROPECIA lost hair.
A majority of men on PROPECIA were rated as improved by doctors—77% vs 15% with placebo.
A majority of men on PROPECIA reported their bald spot getting smaller, their hair loss slowing down, and the appearence of their hair improving.
What’s more, in the first year of the study, 86% of men on PROPECIA maintained hair or increased the number of visible hairs vs 42% on placebo.
Expect to wait up to 4 months before you see results.
THE MOST COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
Clinical tests showed PROPECIA was very well tolerated. Only a very small number of men had sexual side effects, with each occurring in less than 2% of men. They included less desire for sex, difficulty in achieving an erection, and a decrease in the amount of semen. When the men who had these side effects stopped taking PROPECIA, the side effects went away.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
PROPECIA is for MEN ONLY. Women who are or may potentially be pregnant must not use PROPECIA because of the risk that the active ingredient may cause a specific kind of birth defect.
(See Patient Product Information for details:If a woman who is pregnant with a male baby absorbs the active ingredient in PROPECIA, either by swallowing or through the skin, it may cause :dontknow: abnormalities of a male baby’s sex organs. )
Likewise, women :girl: should avoid handling tablets that are crushed or broken. PROPECIA tablets are coated to prevent contact with the active ingredient during normal handling.
In general use, the following have been reported: allergic reactions including rash, itching, hives and swelling of the lips and face; problems with ejaculation; breast tenderness and enlargement; and testicular pain. You should promptly report to your :top: doctor any changes in your breasts such as lumps, pain or nipple discharge. :afraid: Tell your doctor :call: promptly about these or any other unusual side effects.:stickyman :nurse:
PROPECIA can affect a blood test called PSA (Prostate-Specific Antigen) for the screening of prostate cancer. If you have a PSA test done, you should tell your doctor that you are taking :hahaha: PROPECIA.

I'm on board with you guys but my results will be difficult to report as I currently have more hair than the guy on the left in the Propecia picture posted above by koyaanisqatsi. That is, it will be difficult unless a whole lot more fall out in the months ahead... That would make the results a lot easier to report.
I sometimes ponder, listlessly, that a comb is a statistical device. When combing one's hair one cares very little about the exact placement of any individual hair, but rather what the hairs are doing on average and in aggregate. Just a silly notion. A comb is a statistical device. OK.. Forget I mentioned it.

Hey guys, I didn't notice you were back. I'm SO GLAD you are attempting to take me up on my challenge. I understand that this regrowing hair is a very difficult process to accurately measure, not like just counting silver bars or stacking old dimes...
I suppose I was a perfect candidate for experiment. I had tried Rogaine years ago and noted minimal new hair growth. I had recently since gone completely bald, bald as a palate, so to speak. So I had a blank slate to start with. I began to pour a couple of tablespoons of my 13ppm into my palm, and just rub it in after shampoo and drying... and to my surprise, I grew hair on my palms :afraid:
-- just kidding there, to see if you really are listening.
I AM POSITIVE that I am regrowing hair. The hair on top is definitely there now, although in very small percentage to the original design specs. As of now it is slightly denser than when I initiated this threadpost. Anyone can see a sprinkling of full length sturdy hair sprouted approximately 2mm apart. They seem to grow faster in fact than the ones on the sides... note that I cut my own hair with an AC electric haircutter anout each week and keep it at 1/2 inch all around. Some weeks the sparse stuff on top seems to double in length, kinda' wierd but only a little. Also the sides used to be bald on me just past the old part line. Now I have hair in the part line, and it is much denser than the stuff on top, which really began to leave me at that uppermost position there about 15 yrs ago (I am 49 now).
Also when I touch the top of my head now I can FEEL hair with by finger's touch. I was bald as a watermelon before I promise you. That touch of stroking fine hair is what I live for
-- oh, just kidding again, kind of.
I have a theory that in addition to some sort of ubiquitous virus, mold or bacteria -- also combining with a specific set of genetic traits -- causes pattern baldness. This is true of many such maladies they now tell us. In other words we all have picked up this bug, but it only affects some of us due to vulnerable genetics. Or perhaps the silver just stimulates the hair to come back electricly somehow, I really don't know.
I also have a theory that clogged hair follicles aggravate the condition. Silver cannot help this, and besides, skin oils might prevent the water based silver from penetrating the pore properly. For that reason I use Neutrogena equivalent shampoo as mentioned earlier. I had heard somewhere that it cleanses much better and leaves little RESIDUE as cheaper brands do. (Ammonium vs Sodium Laureth Sulfate.)
Regarding Gpond's comment about the comb, I will illustrate something. In keeping with the above I maintain an old soft bristle toothbrush in the shower for my scalp. I sometimes gently stroke the bald areas with the wet sudsy toothbrush in an effort to stimulate and unplug the dormant follicles. I NEVER get any loose falling hair in that toothbrush -- I always look, and it tells me the hair is real and solid. I notice no falling hair now at all on any of my shirt collars. For years, I did for sure.
I would say that considering that I am ahead of you in your own experiment, consider the things I have shared with best intent above. The growth began after about 2 weeks and progessed steadily and gradually for about 6 weeks. Afterwards the growth rate has gradually tapered off, and progress once established seems to slow but not stop.
At the rate I am going, I will have a full head of hair by about age 70, if that makes any sense... you can imagine the apparent growth curve I am attmepting to draw. But in reality I expect that I will soon reach a hair return plateau phase. I will not regain a full head of hair from silver I expect. But you might.
For some of you less far along, it may indeed help you KEEP your falling hair, but that will be hard to measure since you never can know what would have happened otherwise, so the comb may be a handy measure for that there. Also keep a careful memory of the size of the balding area, the density of the baldness. Unfortunately some of this measurement is subjective, but you should definitely see it happening.
But the effects are more impressive by far than what I once had with expensive, and probably toxic in some way, Rogaine and generic equivalents. I am having fun, and my scalp is glowing with some healthy with hair, where there was none at all.
Now... if I can only make it to age 70... stay in touch and keep the faith boys, if you silver water it, and have faith in silver -- it will grow. And that's 'No S'.
So here we are on the cutting edge of medicine, Skyvike, Gpond, xZorro, SilverNut@Bolts and me.
What a great team of bold, balding, 'mad scientists' I am proud to join here! Such modern 'hair alchemy' is hard to justify among those who do not know and thus believe...

Great job, K ! I think it is great that at this board we can discusss PoS, PoG, Iraq and also the problem of baldness. As such that is not my problem now, but you never know what the future holds.... And if CS works, as it may well do, then that is a great achievement. Then you should consider putting that report on forum for bald men - must be such forums......

Thanks, koyaanisqatsi, for all that input. I was going to mention, that running the comb through your hair and then examining it for hair particles was a good way of determening, the hair loss, but you already did that.
In my case, I noticed no hair on the comb, which is encuraging. You also mentioned about stimuilating the scalp with a brush, also something I was thinking about.

This is a photo I just took with a made in China $19.99 USFRN Dollar fixed focus digital camera. Amazing. How do they do it? I hope to shoot it up to 500 feet one day inside a big model rocket. Wish I could fly like Skyvike! Anyway...
Photos were taken today about 1 foot away with a shakey hand held snap, sidelighted by a window to contrast the hair agaisnt a dark background. So the image is poor. It does not show any tiny peach fuzz. It does not show any dark hair since all the hair is sidelighted and therefore intentiaonally over-illuminated. Sorry about the file size I don't know how to reduce the Kbs on jpegs.
Consider that I was slick bald before I started and the bald patch was slightly bigger. Progress is very slow now but continual. I have taken to swabbing with rubbing alcohol now after shampoo and drying, then finally applying liberal amounts of silver colloid 100% to dry onto scalp. The alcohol MIGHT improve penetration I don't know -- its an experiment... NO conditioner, only Neutrogena (eqivalent) shampoo, now dabbed isopropyl alcohol, then colloidal silver... every day.
No, this is not PROOF. No, this is not a scientifically done control group study. It is one testimonial -- that's all. I still have VERY VERY thin hair as you can see -- but I was 100% bald there before.
PS: I am much better looking than this -- cameras always LIE! (Except about new hair) They say a picture is worth a thousand words. These crude photos will help to show what degree of new hair growth I am describing in about 4-5 months-- no more no less... It won't 'change my life... but the feeling that I am taking control and having a positive effect with my own silver medicine is priceless! Just think what it does for the rest of my body... keep the faith because this stuff is REAL.
I just wish I had take a 'before' picture, but this is after, you'll have to trust me on the 'before' part. :top:

Excerpts from an article on hair cloning that reveals surprising information about the latest on how hair follicles really work… and maybe how colloidal silver seems to be working for me.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hair Cloning Nears Reality as Baldness Cure
WebMD News
Nov. 4, 2004
Hair Restoration Today and Tomorrow
The hair follicle is a tiny organ with an odd power: It contains stem cells that can regenerate it.
At the base of the follicle is the hair bulb, where wildly growing matrix cells become hair. A little farther up the follicle is the mysterious feature called the bulge. That's where follicle stem cells live.
When they get the right set of chemical signals, these self-renewing cells divide. They don't divide like normal cells, in which both halves become new cells that keep splitting and developing. Only one half of the follicle stem cell does that. The other half becomes a new stem cell, and stays put for future regeneration.
The Holy Grail of hair restoration would be to figure out exactly how these chemical signals work. A future drug might contain all the signals needed to grow hair in bald areas of the head. But the complexity of the body's chemical language means such a drug is decades from reality, Washenik says.
Moreover, researchers have discovered that some follicle cells do more than regenerate. They give off chemical signals. Nearby follicle cells -- which have shrunk during the aging process -- respond to these signals by regenerating and once again making healthy hair. It works in lab mice. And, Washenik says, it works in human skin cultures, too.

Understand that all this study of my own head is just attempting to test a theory from an OBSERVATION. In science we make observations, propose a theory and then test the theory(s) with experiment to verify against a 'control' group. We have no 'control' group, no system for 'unbiased' observation... but we can advance the observation and test a theory here together.
That is just simply what I am trying to do here with my own hair and my own colloidal silver... thanks for the forum, GIM! It will not be hard science until we get a 'control group' but if we can try this method at least we might advance a theory...
Perhaps the hardest thing to accept is that our 'heads' could challenge a multi-BILLION dollar existing industry. Now, If we can just get over that part.......SO, CURRENT SCIENCE SHOWS 'DEAD' HAIR FOLLICLES CONTAIN REGENERATIVE STEM CELLS.... hmmmm.....:stupido2::wink:

@tec Silver works and has been in use for hundreds of years in medicine. I think you should do a little reading on it and then contest it with some facts that it is bad for you...

I agree with G-khan that you should investigate this further. For my own part I would just add that Silver was used for "Silverware" for hundreds and hundreds of years because of it's natural germ fighting abilities. Check it out, and you may be surprised.

hey koyaanisqatse.....hows the regrowth coming along? any others experiencing success?
J
Welcome to our forum, bocor. I am very pleased that this thread has brought you to post at GIM. Please join us in exploring the many ways of how gold and silver can be used to better our lives, and grow hair, I say too.
I had almost forgotten about this thread, was so busy on the general discussion forum, just howling at the Moon...
My hair growth is slow, steady but tapering off with each month that I use the silver colloid topically on my scalp. In the month since I've posted, I guess I've added 5-10% density. I am still 'bald', of course. The poor digital picture quality I can take probably could not demonstrate much difference.
In sunlight I can see little peach fuzz on the sides that I did not notice before, maybe 1mm in length and very very fine. The main increase in density is on the sides where the hair is gradually encroaching inot the central bald patch. If I had thought I could have tape measured the bald area, but this whole thing started not as a formal experiment, just a whim of sorts. Hindsight is 20 20.
So my regrowth is still progressing very slowly and not so dramatically as in the first 2-4 months. I quit using the rubbing alchol except maybe once a week now to clear pores. It was not helping and I see little need for it, thinking it will dry my hair and scalp a bit too much now in the winter time.
My scalp is extremely heathy, the hair that is growing in is generally darker than the mostly grey hair on the sides, all is well, but going slower and still going, albeit almost imperceptably. I hope others who try this can and will honestly report their success, if any.
Sudden Impact, I drink maybe 2 pots of coffee a day, minimum of one. None on my head yet. But once I had a barber when my hair was just getting thin... He told me that he had heard that if you mixed 2 tablespoons cayenne pepper into pint of Everclear 180 proof, the alcohol will open the follicles and the pepper will stimulate the follicle. It made sense... So on the weekend, I bought the stuff and tried it... and rubbed it onto my scalp. So I went out to mow the lawn. It was hot, and I soon sweated from my scalp down into my EYES... I was blind and on fire, and in my front yard, groping wildly for a graden hose! I told my barber later -- he said, "What? Man, You tried that? I was just KIDDING!"
:haha:
Well hello, tec... Oh my... we are scaring people...
hey let me tell u all a horror story about a guy who used a health remedy
in the 20's there was a thing called invigorsomething... it made people who took it energetic... and some toook a lot of it and were energized...

OOOOH... I'm scared... oh yeah. :wavey:
My friend, you NEED to read so much here... not just money topics... there is more to this world than figuring out the fiat FRN money is really an IOU for nothing... The folks who run THE BIG SHOW don't tell you about a lot of things, the money is just ONE part of the stuff you will learn about here at GIM.
Fear is a powerful motivator, maybe the powerful of all in some, it is certainly the EASIEST to tap... You have a lot of fear of things that are strange to you it seems. That is why you should learn that a lot of what you fear is not dangerous. And a lot of what you don't fear IS dangerous.
Furthermore simple collidal silver as medicine is not patentable. It is not 'advancement of the art', I believe they call it in patent terminology. That 'cat' of colloidal silver has long ago jumped out of the money bag. Now corporations want you to buy their newest patent medicine, of course. Think about profit motive. Think about adverse side effects rampant today in OTC and prescription medicines. If they could make more money with silver than patent medicine, don't you think they would study it's effects more? That is what some of us try to do in their absence. I'm not getting rich typing this to you.
Read the back of a shampoo label, or a twinkie, or a medicine label. Look at all that scary stuff. For 30 years I wore contacts and used solutions dropped directly in my eyes with thimerisol (MERCURY)... The 'experts said it was OK. Yeah, mercury is OK to drop in your eyes every day... so they said.
I used to put Rogaine on my head. The hair grew much less than now with silver, plus it iritated my scalp, it was expensive, it had a warning label and mysterious chemicals that I did not trust. And I took sulfa-drugs once for a little bug, and soon had a reaction so severe I was almost rushed to the hospital... dangerous stuff is most medicine...get the picture?
Now let's take a look at the people who are supposed to monitor for our safety. People that I suppose, you can trust. Government watchdog types who tell you what is safe to do...

STATUS OF DATA FOR Silver
Silver; CASRN 7440-22-4
Health assessment information on a chemical substance is included in IRIS only after a comprehensive review of chronic toxicity data by U.S. EPA health scientists from several Program Offices and the Office of Research and Development. The summaries presented in Sections I and II represent a consensus reached in the review process. Background information and explanations of the methods used to derive the values given in IRIS are provided in the Background Documents.
II.A.2. Human Carcinogenicity Data
No evidence of cancer in humans has been reported despite frequent therapeutic use of the compound over the years.
In the study by East et al. (1980) (see section 1.A.2.), one human was found to retain 18% of a single oral dose. However, the authors acknowledge that this high level of retention is not consistent with data published in other laboratories. For ethical reasons, the experiment could be not repeated to determine the validity of the results.
Humans are exposed to small amounts of silver from dietary sources. The oral intake of silver from a typical diet has been estimated to range from 27-88 ug/day (Hamilton and Minski, 1972/1973; Kehoe et al., 1940). Tipton et al. (1966) estimated a lesser intake of 10-20 ug/day in two subjects during a 30- day observation period. Over a lifetime, a small but measurable amount of silver is accumulated by individuals having no excessive exposure. Gaul and Staud (1935) estimated that a person aged 50 years would have an average retention of 0.23-0.48 g silver
Furchner et al. (1968) studied the absorption and retention of ingested silver (as silver nitrate, amount not specified) in mice, rats, monkeys and dogs. In all four species, very little silver was absorbed from the GI tract. Cumulative excretion ranged from 90 to 99% on the second day after ingestion, with <1% of the dose being retained in <1 week in monkeys, rats and mice. Dogs had a slightly greater retention. The authors used the data from the dog to estimate how much silver ingested by a 70 kg human would be retained. An "equilibrium factor" of 4.4% was determined by integrating from zero to infinity a retention equation which assumes a triphasic elimination pattern for silver with the initial elimination of 90% coming from the dog data.
Furst and Schlauder (1977) evaluated silver and gold for carcinogenicity in a study designed to avoid solid-state carcinogenesis. Metal powder was suspended in trioctanoin and injected monthly, i.m., into 50 male and female Fischer 344 rats per group. The dose was 5 mg each for 5 treatments and 10 mg each for 5 more treatments for a total dose of 75 mg silver. The treatment regimen included a vehicle control (a reportedly inert material), and cadmium as a positive control. Injection site sarcomas were found only in vehicle control (1/50), gold (1/50) and cadmium (30/50); no tumors (0/50) appeared at the site of injection in the silver-treated animals. A complete necropsy was performed on all animals. The authors mentioned the existence of spontaneous tumors in Fischer 344 rats, but reported only injection site tumors. They concluded that finely divided silver powder injected injected as powder monthly does not induce cancer.
:albertein :top:
II.A.4. Supporting Data for Carcinogenicity
Further support for the lack of silver's ability to induce or promote cancer stems from the finding that, despite long standing and frequent therapeutic usage in humans, there are no reports of cancer associated with silver. In a recent Proceedings of a Workshop/Conference on the Role of Metals in Carcinogenesis (1981) containing 24 articles on animal bioassays, epidemiology, biochemistry, mutagenicity, and enhancement and inhibition of carcinogenesis, silver was not included as a metal of carcinogenic concern.
Argyria, the critical effect upon which the RfD for silver is based, occurs at levels of exposure much lower than those levels associated with other effects of silver. Argyrosis, resulting from the deposition of silver in the eye, has also been documented, but generally involves the use of eye drops or make-up containing silver (Greene and Su, 1987). Silver has been found to be deposited in the cornea and the anterior capsule of the lens. The same deposition pattern was seen in the eyes of male Wistar rats following administration of a 0.66% silver nitrate solution to the eyes for 45 days (Rungby, 1986). No toxicological effects were reported.

Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry ; Silver Sludge
VOL. 18 ; ISSUE: 1 ; PBD: Jan 1999
A review of the literature revealed that bioaccumulation of silver in soil is rather low, even if the soil is amended with silver-containing sewage sludge. Plants grown on tailings of silver mines were found to have silver primarily in the root systems.
(I use silver topically on my houseplants)
In soil, sewage sludge, and sediment, in which silver sulfide predominates, the toxicity of silver, even at high total concentrations, is very low. The highly soluble silver thiosulfate complex has low toxicity, which can be attributed to the silver complexed by thiosulfate. Silver nitrate is one of the most toxic silver compounds. The toxic potential of silver chloride complexes in seawater is and will be an important issue for investigation. Aquatic chronic tests, long-term tests, and tests including sensitive life stages show lower toxicity thresholds. The organisms viewed as most sensitive to silver are small aquatic invertebrates, particularly embryonic and larval stages. http://www.osti.gov/energycitations/product.biblio.jsp?osti_id=318846
Additional Studies and Information
Dr. Altman consumed 2.34 mg. of silver daily for several months then measured the total silver excreted from his body over a 24 hour period. He concluded that silver is excreted easily from the body, primarily in the urine. The total silver excreted during this particular measurement period exceeded the amount consumed during that period. This is accounted for by the variability of the amount of waste (urine, feces, etc.) eliminated from the body, the amount consumed through food and water, etc. It does point out that silver is eliminated from the body much more efficiently than we previously thought. It also may explain why there have been no cases of argyria reported by individuals using low dosage electrocolloidal silver. The colloidal silver that he was using was electrocolloidal silver made by the high voltage DC (180 VDC) process.
After approximately the first month, silver elimination was greater through the feces than through the urine. He estimated that by the 100 day mark nearly all of the accumulated silver had been eliminated from his tissues.
This is only one set of measurements on one individual. It is, however, data carefully obtained by a scientifically trained individual using modern analytical tools. It suggests that a healthy adult can consume approximately 2 mg. of colloidal silver per day without risk. This data is insufficient, however, to assume that the same situation will prevail in other individuals. Someone with kidney disease, for example, may have difficulty eliminating silver and may risk toxicity with prophylactic consumption.
It may be helpful to put this in perspective with the quantities of silver that is consumed in the food and drinking water from natural sources. The EPA publishes a reference dose (RFD) for silver which is an estimate of daily exposure to the entire population that is unlikely to be associated with a significant risk of adverse effects over a lifetime. The current RFD for oral silver exposure is 5 micrograms/kg/d with a critical dose estimated at 14 micrograms/kg/d. The maximum contaminant level proposed by the EPA for silver in the drinking water is less than 0.1 mg/L. (less than 0.1 PPM).
Based on this RFD, a 150 pound adult should not exceed 350 micrograms/d. If the silver in drinking water meets EPA standards, an average person drinking 2 liters per day will consume less than 200 micrograms of silver. In addition the daily diet may contain about 90 micrograms of silver. (63) 350 micrograms of silver is equivalent to 70 milliliters (14 tsp.) of 5 PPM colloidal silver. This is the amount that the EPA standards permit an individual to consume from natural sources. At this rate, one could conceivably consume enough silver in three days to equal the 1 milligram estimate of a minimum effective dose.
We know that argyria has been produced in adults who were given 900 mg of silver orally over a period of one year. Using the most conservative figure, 900 milligrams of silver corresponds to the silver content in 90 liters of 10 PPM colloidal silver.
That amount is .246 liters or about one cup per day continuous MAXIMUM of 10ppm colloidal silver. But colloidal silver is not the same as silver protein medicine or silver powder medicine or silver as a byproduct of industry. C.S. is mostly excreted, and much more effective, IMO.
Notice too the studies seem to prefer silver nitrate, the more harmful of many compounds, and silver powder, some cases silver I.V.'s... colloidal silver is much more benign even than those ... really. It is TRUE, even according to the trusted 'real experts'.
Now just for fun, let's look at the toothpaste they tell you you need to feel safe from cavities... this is a side road to make a point I hope, bear with me, please ... A simple comparison for you...

Flouride Toxicity
http://www.nofluoride.com/AMA-logo.gif
"The American Medical Association is NOT prepared to state that no harm will be done to any person by water fluoridation. The AMA has not carried out any research work, either long-term or short-term, regarding the possibility of any side effects." - Dr. Flanagan, Assistant Director of Environmental Health, American Medical Association. "I am appalled at the prospect of using water as a vehicle for drugs.
Fluoride is a corrosive poison that will produce serious effects on a long range basis. Any attempt to use water this way is deplorable."
- Dr. Charles Gordon Heyd, Past President of the American Medical Association.
"E.P.A. should act immediately to protect the public, not just on the cancer data, but on the evidence of bone fractures, arthritis, mutagenicity and other effects." - Dr. William Marcus, Senior Toxicologist at E.P.A.
NEVER, NEVER, NEVER USE HUMAN TOOTHPASTE ON AN ANIMAL OR THE ANIMAL WILL GET FLOURIDE TOXICITY!!!!

R Ziegelbecker has made two studies by taking a random sample of all available data on caries (decay ) prevalence. He selected 48 000 12-14 year children from 136 communities in seven countries. No correlation was found between caries or dental health and fluoride concentration. Further studies have shown that not only does fluoride not improve dental health but it may cause decay.
Immune deficiency : Dr. Sheila Gibson from the University of Glasgow, showed that fluoride, at levels comparable to those found in the blood of people living in fluoridated areas, decreased the migration rate of human white blood cells (leukotaxis). [Also inhibits phagocytosis - another defence mechanism This adversely affects the immune system. Dr. Gibson found that only a six-hour exposure of white blood cells to as little as 0.1 parts per million fluoride inhibits the white blood cell migration rate by 21 percent. One part per million inhibits the white blood cell migration rate by 85 per cent and 2 ppm has a conclusive 0 percent relative migration rate. This indicates that a continued use of fluoride in the drinking water could result in the total destruction of the immune response.
Cancer : Cancer researchers have found a 17% rise in 16 yrs of cancers in towns in the USA which are fluoridated in comparison with those which are not. A rise in a rare bone cancer, osteosarcoma, was recorded in men under 20 in fluoridated areas. This was confirmed in studies on rats in 1989 by the US National Toxicology Program.
Fluorides lower the intelligence capacity of humans, with children, again, especially susceptible to early fluoride toxicity. IQ levels were significantly lower than children not exposed to fluorides in all age groups listed. (According to Dr. Hirzy, 5 to 19 points lower!)(Li,X.S.,Zhi,J.L.,Gao,R.O.,"Effects of Fluoride Exposure on the Intelligence of Children", Fluoride;28:182-189, 1995)

This world is NOT as simple as it seems, tec. Sorry to go on so here, but I am just talking about putting silver colloid on my bald head, and how my hair is growing back as a result.
Pardon me for saying, but you seem to be terribly afraid of what you should not be. Not understanding, that causes real fear. Misplaced fears, they can be very harmful to anyone.
I hope you will start looking around at all products then and now with suspicion, wondering why they will always promote such profitable patent medicine, why there is poison all around they will not discuss, OTC drug reactions, AND why money grows on trees now of course too ... etc. I don't mean to make fun, just to bring a light into some obvious dark fears. Your time of awakening has come tec, I hope... if you start going bald I just want to help you grow hair, not to poison you... Meanwhile, YOU might somehow scare people needlessly with such hysterical and uninformed talk, IMO.
Comparing an anecdotal tale of 1910 Uranium Tonic to colloidal silver as you did, because they are both metals -- is like comparing drinking gasoline to drinking plain water because they are both clear liquids -- BUT NO COMPARISON. LOOK AND SEE. Explore the best information and reconsider scaring folks please. Be scared of your toothpaste, your tap water -- that fear is quite reasonable.
And welcome to the colloidal silver forum, tec.

Update. Alas, although I do apply it to my head and rub it in each and every morning, my wife reminded me yesterday that most of the hair in the drain of our bathtub is mine. I will probably continue because it is a habit, and I believe my scalp is healthy. Unfortunately, I can not report any success story at this time. OTOH, who knows where I would be without it!
I still love it, put it on my head, on my face, in my ears, up my nose, and occasionally even drink it straight. An ounce of prevention, et al.

Gpond, mine is seemimg to be still working, although very, very slowly now. It looks a little unusual really to see a bald man with sparse dark brown hairs popping up where none should be. I have evidence of peach fuzz in some of the edges where before it was slick. But I acknowledge however that I am still to be seen as 'bald.'
I am saying I have many hairs where I had none for a year or more before... but meanwhile new growth has slowed down here gradually of late and I would still certainly appear quite 'bald' to anyone. In fact, the regrowth may have almost stopped. I have managed to go perhaps from 100% bald in a given area to 96% bald (percentage is compared to number of follicles I had in that area at age 27, versus zero about a half a year ago) I am trying to express what is hard to express here... amd by the way, other people have noticed, but only if I point it out... they seem to agree, but maybe they are humoring me.
But my hair IS or HAS grown in as I have described and I find that phenomena alone amazing -- or I would never have posted here. I am not a hoaxer but only a kidder, and HERE I am not kidding -- or hoaxing. I feel that you do believe me Gpond, I say this because others may not.
Now just for a moment consider how much green was made by this little innovation...

A 'Chia Head' has made millions of dollars I might suppose... good as gold... And yet here a revolutionary new potential use for simple silver colloidal suspension, research goes still unfunded and nowhere but GIM. (or maybe someone somewhere already knows)
And after using and studying one of the available OTC pharmaceutical for hair growing then years ago, this silver water I now use is measurably superior in all effects, in my own opinion. But I can make no side by side comprison. BTW I majored in biology in my junior year and I know about experimental procedure, reliability and bias... As a single case study, my results worked quite well, considering, and I did NOT employ any personal bias. I promise you.
:shakehand
So I may be rather unique in some respect? Maybe our chemistry is different? I'm single, maybe that? (I am kidding you!) I may be in a different phase in my balding? You are judging by checking hair in drain -- I can SEE it grow where before I was slick-ly bald, a much different situation than you I feel. And I have green eyes, you think?
:turtle:
But thank you for trying it, and offering the candid report! My aim was to just share and learn.

Oh yes, I believe you. The pictures you posted were interesting too.
Because I do have a decent amount of hair left, it would be difficult to notice any new growth of the kind your pictures showed.
As I said, I don't intend to stop using it. When I am completely bald there will be revealed a very healthy looking pink noggin! :proud:
