Silver socks?

Anybody here have any experience with silver socks? I have chronic issues with athlete's foot, and I'm thinking about purchasing some silver socks to see if this helps my problem. I'm looking at these:

Apparently, the military uses silver socks for troops for their antibacterial and antimicrobial properties.
