my two cents- One hour of strenuous exercise not within 2 hours of bedtime.
Antonio started a thread about insomnia a while back , maybe there's something that will help you in there:

Caffeine. I'm serious. It is possible to be "too tired to sleep". Your body needs a certain amount of energy to perform various "purge" functions overnight. If you don't have the strength, then when the purging process struggles or fails it will wake you up.
Try drinking a cup of coffee or tea before bed. Alternatively, you could eat a dark chocolate bar (I HIGHLY recommend Rapunzel organic chocolate bars - especially the "Semi-sweet Espresso").
One other thing that has helped us has been a magnetic matress pad. The only one I recommend is the "Tru-North" by Magnapak.

Melatonin, 1 hr before required bed time. Drink it marginally earlier each night untill you are where you need to be. Start of with a small dose otherwise you'll be knackered in the morning.
Also an excellent anti-oxidant and no side-effects.

Black Bush... AKA: Bushmill's Black Label Whiskey.
Only kidding, btw, but at only 4 hours, I might try just about anything.

alcohol is natural. not too much though since drunkeness causes an unproductive sleep. but two glasses of homemade beer or wine is equivilent to a mild sedative or an otc sleeping pill.
the reason i say "homemade" is because i won't consume the sulfates and chemicals added to store bought products. but the effects should be the same.

Try to identify the cause of the insomnia and deal with that.
