UNITED KINGDOM. From now on, staff at the British headquarters of biotech giant Monsanto will be eating only non-genetically modified products on their lunch breaks. Foods containing genetically modified soy and corn are no longer available in the company cafeteria. Granada Food Services, which manages the canteen, is said to be concerned about health risks. Monsanto's press department contends the action was not the result of a boycott initiated by worried employees of theU.S. multinational.

I took a course on Bioethics once and it really opened my eyes to the evil nature of Monsanto. They are playing god and the law of unintended concequences is very real. It's funny how you hear some people refuse to invest in companies like cigarette and alcohol producers because their moral values but you don't ever hear them complain about the devious nature of companies like Monsanto which I personally consider to be much more morally hazardous than alcohol and tobacco.

That's because we live in NA where profits and lobbyists trump the health and safety of the consumer. Look to Europe which have laws regulating the labelling of GM foods. As usual nothing will be done until theres a disaster and people start growing two heads. Only then when it's too late and theres a massive public outcry will something be done.
