“NOTORIOUS” MEXICAN FLAG BURNER APPEAL TO BE ARGUED MONDAY, AUGUST 6, 2007

The appeal of the misdemeanor conviction of Roy Warden (aka “the Notorious Mexican Flag Burner”) last December, for events arising out of Burning the Mexican Flag, will be heard at the Pima County Superior Courthouse this Monday, 10:00 am August 06, 2007, room 680 before Judge Edgar Acuna.

“During one of my public forums I told Judge Hays I would shove my conviction right up his keester”, said Warden. “On Monday I shall, or this case goes right up to the appellate courts.”

<!-- </hs:element2> --><!-- <hs:element3> -->http://www.lawatchdog.com/Warden7803.jpg
<!-- </hs:element3> --><!-- <hs:element4> -->One of the issues under appeal is Judge Hays’ allowing Pima County Legal Defender Isabel Garcia (http://www.americanpatrol.com/REFERENCE/derechoshumanos.html) to “coach” the complaining witness, Arturo Rodriquez, while he testified. There are numerous witnesses to the incident, which denied Warden’s right to a fair trial.

“Judge Hays did nothing to protect me. KVOA news reporter Lupita Murillo saw the whole thing. Laura Leighton, a former translator for the Tucson City Public Defender, said it was the most outrageous conduct by an attorney she’d ever witnessed at trial.”

Warden, who is preparing for his third trial for Burning the Mexican Flag, plans to file an action regarding Judge Hays misconduct with the Arizona Supreme Court.

“This fall I will file a second federal suit against local officials who conspired to violate my rights. Isabel Garcia is about to get one right between the eyes!”

Being in "occupied territory" he's probably going to have about as much luck as a mime in Nazi occupied France. Not to offend anybody living in the Southwest, but it would appear you've got a lot in common with WWII france. At least the French had the "resistance" fighters. Nobody (except maybe the chinese someday) is coming to "liberate" you any time soon.

Yeah, and for reference, you don't want to drive through mexico with an American Flag on your car. It's illegal.

Some friends live in Phoenix--they were buying and flipping homes down there during the bubble--too hot, too close to mexico and no water.

It's not like that, Drafter. Roy is going to hand that judge his ass.

There is corruption on the local level but when this case hits the court of appeals, the corruption will be exposed and that judge will get a good hard slap on the wrist at the very least.

Roy knows what he is doing.

Forget driving with a flag...don't drive down there at all. Unless you are flying to an American resort, don't even go to Mexico if you are a white American.

Yes, it's THAT bad.

Agreed on the driving! Driving in Mexico is a freaking nightmare. I always take a bus. Taxis are insane and costly so bus or Nike is my locomotion.

However, I'm not too concerned about mugging, or being messed with in Mexico or the US. I don't attract that type of stuff. I know how to blend in and be inconspicuous, it comes from years of living in crappy neighborhoods. If you look like a wino, no one wants to give you a hard time unless you are in an upscale neighborhood.

"Who is Ira Hamilton Hayes?"

Okay I watched too much jeopardy

http://www.defenselink.mil/specials/nativeamerican01/images/lflage.gif

IRA HAMILTON HAYES 1923 - 1955

Ira Hamilton Hayes is a full blood Pima Indian and was born in Sacaton, Arizona, on the Pima Reservation on Jan 12, 1923. His parents Joe E. and Nancy W. Hayes were both farming people.

Ira's story didn't end happily (he's on the far left in the photo), let's hope this guy fares better. You can burn your own flag , but not someone else's? Is this for real?

Not really.

To be completely accurate we have FAR more in common with Serbs living in their homeland of Kosovo-Metohija in 1999, and we already know how the U.S. government treated them.

What were the actual charges against him? I couldn't find that on the website, and I'm aware of no law that makes it illegal to do what he did...
