Live telecast of PM's address at Gold Dinar Convention
KUALA LUMPUR June 27 - Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad's key address at the International Convention on Gold Dinar, to be held at the Putra World Trade Centre here on July 1, will be telecast live.
Radio TV Malaysia (RTM) will provide live coverage of the event through RTM 1 beginning at 10.10 a.m. The convention is expected to start at 9.30 in the morning.
The live telecast is a reflection of the government's commitment to make a reality of Dr Mahathir's aspiration to make the gold dinar a trade medium among Islamic countries in the world, the convention's director Datuk Raja Mohammad Raja Abdullah said in a statement here on Friday.
The convention is being organised by the Malaysian Islamic Trade Council.
Todate, more than 400 participants, both local and from overseas, have confirmed their attendance including participants from Islamic nations, he said.
Raja Mohammad said participants were expected to discuss pertinent issues involved in the implementation of the gold dinar, especially the economic sector.
