I placed an order today with Stanford.
10 gold eagles @ spot and 40 silver eagles @ spot.

I would think everyone here would be jumping on this.
It is for first time customers only. I saved about $410 over Apmex.

elroy - I saw your other post on this and was curious if anyone has dealt with these guys before. I did a search in dealer feedback but came up with no hits.
It does sound like a good deal. Let us know when you get your order delivered.

the problem with ads like this is they come at the end of the year when gold and silver have popped.

when they drop the deals are off.

I have found a couple of these type ads before but they only popped up when the price was flying high. the other hitch is when they charge you twenty bucks for s/h

the other problem is once you use them they dont let you repeat. if you can only do one ounce you have left 90% of the opportunity on the table. so you wait....

the harder thing is to get fractionals close to melt. if you can get 1/10 oz gaes that is sweet

I checked them out prior to ordering from them.

Stanford Coins & Bullion is part of the Stanford Financial Group based out of Houston Texas. They operate a stock brokerage firm along with a high end auction gallery in California. They belong to the online Better Business Bureau and if I remember correctly have only had one complaint in the last 12 months. Something to do with an advertising issue and it was resolved.

They will allow you to buy up to 10 one ounce gold eagles and forty 1 ounce silver eagles at spot price. You can also buy up to 5 ounces of platinum if you so desire at spot. What is not to like about this deal? Yes, shipping is $25.

The representative said they were running this offer at a loss to try and increase their customer base for PMs.

Elroy. ..I also ordered 10 GAE's yesterday, did they try and "after sell" you a $3NGC AU53 for $1995.00? Also I found it weird that he said they would send me a bill instead of the "normal" mail me the funds and we'll send after they clear. Did you experience the same method of payment?
TIA

they dont take credit cards so that worries me a bit....did u receive your coins ok?
They probably don't take credit cards due to the fees the card companies charge. Some other companies that accept credit cards charge 3% extra if you use a cc.

No they didn't try to sell me anything else. In the beginning he asked me if I was interested in bullion or numismatics. I said "only bullion" and he never mentioned anything else. He asked me to mail payment within 24 hours and said they would hold the check 8 days to clear and ship the following day.

I'm not worried about this company because I've already gone through a transaction with Northwest Territorial Mint. After that I can handle anything.

Update...I just spoke to John Imbriano who took my order and Stanford received my check on Dec 17, 8 business day hold puts clearance about Jan 3. John promised to call me on Jan 3 OR 4 with more info on shipping and tracking number. Sounds like Stanford is relatively new in the PM/Numi market and therefore salesman are learning as progression continues. I have no worries after my call to them.

PS THIS IS NO BUMP:tongue_ma:

My order arrived on the 27th.

I placed the order and mailed a personal check on December 5th, package was postmarked December 20th and it arrived on the 27th.

Gold eagles are dated 1999 and in individual plastic sleeves and all of these were inside a small velvet bag. The silver eagles are dated 2007 and are in mint tubes. All the coins look very nice.

10 GAE and 40 SAE all at spot price. [when spot was $794 and $14.21]

Better call and get some for yourself. I dealt with Will Wilkes at Stanford.

You people are making me jealous with your PM in hand already. I was told my 40 silver eagles wouldn't ship until the 9th of Jan. (at least I'm getting brand new 2008s)

Would you believe that they ship to Canada- for $31 no less. Yes, I ordered my maximum silver, some platinum and instead of GAE I decided on double eagles (unless they sold more they should still have 10 left at a good price... I am very happy with the order and got in yesterday before todays big jump. Now The M/O is off and I wait. Is there anybody here who does not believe that my order from them will arrive before the order from NWT mint placed a month or so back?

I was replying to a different thread when it struck me that I never did reply again to this one. The deal with Stanford went very well. I was right- my order from them beat NWT mint by a few weeks.

Anyhow, if anybody is interested I noticed that while the eagles are no longer on sale they do have gold maples @ spot.

This seems like a good deal. I am going to try an pick up the 5 Maples Monday morning. Thanx....

They're offering additional Gold Maples (after 5 @ spot) for $18 over which is cheaper than the $30 for extra GAE's and SAE's for $1.65 over spot. 1-800-627-3015.

I live in the Eastern time zone, so I will be biting my nails today hoping that they will hold the price of gold down for a couple of hours until I can get these 5 maples on order this a.m. out of Texas. Looks good so far! Down from Friday on overseas trading. Seems like a great deal. I went ahead and registered at their site.

I called and the guy told me they don't lock in the price until they receive payment. He said they do it this way because I'm a first time customer. He said, "I don't know if you'll send me the check. What if the price goes down tomorrow. So that's why we don't lock in the price before we receive payment."

For those who ordered previously, is this what they made you go through? :no_ma:

I also ordered today. This is not the experience at all. He locked in the spot price for me for 5 gold maple leaves. He also asked for my credit card number to back up the lock-in price. It's just like APMEX. Maybe they're getting too many phone calls today that they changed their policy? dunno

This is NOT the way they do business, the CC is for instances when prices drop and buyer backs out, they charge your card for the difference. I have bought numerous times from Stanford, my family and friends and they all locked in price at time of sale, also the deal is for first time buyers only (spot)! Who was your salesman?

Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately, I didn't catch the name of the salesman.

But now that I think about it, what the guy said doesn't make sense. Because, if he doesn't lock in the spot price at the time of my call, how do I know how much money to send them? I think I'll try calling back tomorrow.
