Hello All!! My question is this, How do I clean the black soot off of my silver (neg electrode) in between cs batches?I read about a bench made (if you will)cs generator on this forum and for about $30 I made one.Materials :Universal charger (transformer), fish tank bubbler, 2 silver bullion rounds, lrg mayo jar and 2 med gator clips.I 've been doing some "blind" experimenting with the timing.I say blind because I haven't got a ppm meter yet.I have only verified by using a laser before and after to see a definite change.I have used my cs solution in several situations. Here is a quicklist of some of those light welder burn of the eyes (very noticeable pos effect),stinky feet ( again very n.p.e.) mouth wash\tooth paste (much prefered to gagging tooth poison n.p.e).My wife had poison ivy on her hands and a (1) daily soaking relieved the itch.We both agreed had she used it at the same rate as other medicated remedies call for it (cs) probably would have kicked it.I also made my dog pass some kind of worm by giving it to him in his water.Thank you all for the past and future info.Again how to remove the black soot from silver?

I don't know what you call 'em, but they're flat, green, scrubbing pads made out of some kind of plastic material. Run the coins under as hot a water stream as you can stand while scrubbing with one of these pads. Works great for me.

Scotchbrite pads .... I use them to clean up electrodes, motor commutators and ceramic water filter elements too.
