I believe I am personally benefiting from taking Ginkgo Biloba capsules 60mg three times daily. I do suffer from some short term memory issues and attention deficit or mental clarity issues similar to some mentioned in this article. A psychologist I spoke with has some of the same issues and suggested Ginkgo Biloba in the dosages mentioned.

He read about some clinical trials that had shown "no effect" from Ginkgo Biloba. He pointed out, however that he believes they were flawed because the trial time was very short. His personal experience was that he noticed improvements after about 6 weeks time taking it.

I have now been taking Ginkgo Biloba for 7 to 8 weeks and I am in fact experiencing a noticable improvement. My short-term memory has improved, I feel more mentally alert, words come to mind more quickly -- with less "struggle". I feel less mentally fatigued.

I do not know the first thing about Ginkgo Biloba. I have read that it helps increase circulation to the brain and extremities. This article I am including as an introduction and cannot vouch for it's accuracy either.

Anyone else have success or experiences with Ginkgo Biloba? It was a full 6 weeks before I noticed anything, but I do notice improvement.

The ginkgo is the oldest living tree species, geological records indicate this plant has been growing on earth for 150 - 200 million years. Chinese monks are credited with keeping the tree in existence, as a sacred herb. It was first brought to Europe in the 1700's and it is now a commonly prescribed drug in France and Germany. It is one of the most well-researched herbs in the world.

In the last 30 years, more that 300 studies have given clinical evidence that ginkgo prevents and benefits many problems throughout the entire body. Ginkgo is gaining recognition as a brain tonic that enhances memory because of its positive effects on the vascular system, especially in the cerebellum. It is also used as a treatment for vertigo, tinnitus (ringing in the ears) and a variety of neurological disorders and circulation problems. Ginkgo may help to counteract the effects of aging, including mental fatigue and lack of energy.

Ginkgo works by increasing blood flow to the brain and throughout the body's network of blood vessels that supply blood and oxygen to the organ systems. It increases metabolism efficiency, regulates neurotransmitters, and boosts oxygen levels in the brain which uses 20% of the body's oxygen.

Benefits of enhanced circulation in the brain include improved short and long term memory, increased reaction time and improved mental clarity. Ginkgo is often used to treat elderly persons with Alzheimer's and other symptoms of cerebral insufficiency. Cerebral insufficiency is a general term for a collection of symptoms that include difficulties of concentration and memory, absentmindedness, confusion, lack of energy, depressive mood, anxiety, dizziness, tinnitus, and headache.

Ginkgo constituents are beneficial for a variety of imbalances and deterioration in the brain and body. Standardized ginkgo extract inhibits platelet activity factor (PAF), which is a common allergen in the body. Physical stress, and poor quality food can overstimulate PAF production; in other words, blood clotting. Excessive PAF can help cause cardiovascular disease, brain damage, hearing disorders and other immune and inflammatory diseases.

Ginkgo has been used to relieve tension and anxiety and improve mental alertness, elevate mood and restore energy.

Ginkgo has two groups of active substances, flavonoids and terpene lactones, including ginkgolides A, B, and C, bilobalide, quercetin, and kaempferol. The ginkgolides have been shown to control allergic inflammation, anaphylactic shock and asthma.

Ginkgo also acts as a powerful antioxidant and contributes to the oxidation of free radicals which are believed to contribute to premature aging and dementia. Antioxidants also protect the eyes, cardiovascular system and central nervous system.

Ginkgo may also help control the transformation of cholesterol to plaque associated with the hardening of arteries, and can relax constricted blood vessels.
The herb has been used in treatment of other circulation-related disorders such as diabetic peripheral vascular disease, Raynaud's syndrome, hemorrhoids and varicose veins. It can also aid in the treatment of insufficient circulation and complications from stroke and skull injuries. Ginkgo's beneficial effects on the circulatory system also can be of benefit in the treatment of eye and ear disorders.

Studies have confirmed that ginkgo increases blood flow to the retina, and can slow retinal deterioration resulting in an increase of visual acuity. In clinical tests ginkgo has improved hearing loss in the elderly. It also improves circulation in the extremities relieving cold hands and feet, swelling in the limbs and chronic arterial blockage. Among other things, ginkgo is being investigated as a potential treatment to prevent the rejection of transplanted organs, as a treatment for asthma and for toxic shock syndrome.

Parts Used: Dried leaf.
Common Use: Ginkgo has been shown to be nutritional support for mental alertness, enhanced vitality level, circulatory health and blood vessel health. Its high antioxidant activity is valuable for fighting age related conditions. All over the world, people have claimed Ginkgo to be beneficial in the fight against the gradual erosion of energy associated with aging.

It works, I have been taking it for nearly four years. What I find also works is getting rest like a cat. Instead of trying to log 6 or 8 hours of sleep, run on about five and take a few little naps through the day. This is probably the best thing I have ever done to keep me focused.

Larry's Big Wallet probably helped a little also...
nothing against Ginkgo Biloba, its good stuff...

I think you should think about "Cycling it"

6 weeks on Ginkgo
and then
6 Weeks on Yerba mate or some other mild stimulant/mood elevator/ smart drug
6 weeks back on the Ginkgo
etc
etc

if you saturate your body for a long time, its usefulness goes way way down.

like people who have to drink 2 pots of coffee just to roll out of bed....

they did not start out drinking 2 pots....

One could also get the same effect by practising holding ones' breath. Luckily we have 9mo summer here so I do a lot of swimming.

I think I have read about this in SuperLearning 2000. I do three underwater sessions per day, when I swim, with about 5 min recuperation between.

Start slowly and try and add one or two seconds per go. After a while you'll soon know what feels good and what doesn't. Keep a log.

I don't really push it to the extreme and have been doing this to measure my fitness levels and only afterwards have I read that it actually increases memory etc.

Please have a check-up before attempting this. I'm reasonably fit.

Golden Regards
Uncle

I think some natural remedies work and some dont. Ginko is in the "works" category based on what I have experienced.

There are some scientific tests of such substances done in Europe but not much in the US so if you want peer reviewed literature about this it may be hard to get.

Is adderall and ginkgo biloba a bad combination?

Interesting first post...welcome Chris59

Hope you enjoy your time.

About adderal and Ginko Biloba...

Thats not an easy question for even your Dr or Pharmacist to answer since they have no real history to refer back to with dosages, contraindications and reactions since both Adderall and GB have not been studied extensively(together or seperate). I'd love to ellaborate but I have no license to do so.

Good luck to ya :ARMS1:

The self-assessment takes about one hour and is divided into three sittings. The results of the assessment are compared to norms to determine the strengths and weakness of the user. It must be emphasized that the whole process is anonymous for maximum protection of the individual's privacy.
The Individualized Training System (ITS)

The “brain” behind the program is the Individualized Training System (ITS). This is an interactive system that "learns" about the users through their performance and offers an individualized training schedule and responds to user performance both during and at the end of the training. As the training progresses, The ITS adjusts the level of difficulty of each task depending on the user’s specific performance.

Each practice session lasts for about 20 minutes and is made up of three tasks. It is recommended to train 3 times a week. The complete training program includes 24 practice sessions which are then repeated two additional times in their entirety. At the conclusion of this almost nine-month training period the user is then provided with a task pool for lifelong brain training and fitness. In addition, MindFit provides the user with information about the cognitive skills being exercised in each task and their relevance to every day functioning.

[quote=Curtman;143507]It works,quote]

I can't get this thread to work so I could not read much of what was said.

I combine it with ginseng.

I also total believe this stuff works great Phosphatidyiserine I know there is a shorter name but this is what is on the bottle. Check it out.

If your are having health problems, memory, mental health or back pain etc. I think you should do a parasite cleanse.

From what I read 90% of Americans are full of worms. If you have any intestine problems like ulcerative colitis etc etc etc you need to at least give this a try. I would say anyone with any health problems should give this a try.
I had a very sick puppy. So we took him to the vets. They found a very small parasite at the lab. The vet would have more than likely killed the puppy with what she wanted to do. I found this out because this medicine killed other dogs in my breed. Its a common problem with lots of meds with sheep dogs.

So any way these little parasites can pass between humans and people.
I wanted to use herbs on this puppy but I wanted him getting better now. So I found an old nasty de-wormer and told the vet that is what I wanted and her meds could kill my puppy. So that is how I started but I knew we could have these parasites also so the day we started the puppy we started the deworming also. Most all other animals were started on something fast. The other dogs were started on Wormwood and Walnut.

We started with PARAGONE we had ordered some herbs from Humaworm but we did not want to wait as there is no reason to pass these things back to this puppy while we waited. We did assume we might have them also.

So it started real fast (passing worms) as we both started to pass worms. It was strange to see these things. The wife seemed to have two different kinds. I had I assume mostly one kind. This is what you could see.
Well to get to the point I started to think much clearer very fast. I could remember peoples names much better etc.
I passed these things that I could see for at least 20 days. I received my order from Humaworm after the first dosing of PARAGONE. I like the Humaworm better as it seems easier on the system but that PARAGONE sure did work.

We have been treating the puppy with herbs for sometime now. He seems much better we started with some stuff from the health food store. Then the herbs from Humaworm showed up. We ordered dewormer for him at the same time we ordered for us.

The vet will only give you a three day dose of the old dewormer. I believe that this will not total get rid of these little parasites. They come back, is what I understand. I had a sit down with one local vet and he admitted that he has two kennels where he can not get rid of these parasites.

Well so far I think we are doing better than if we listened to all the vets around here. With these herbs.
Take this for what is worth but I would not waste by time typing this if I did not think it might help someone.
PARAGONE can be gotten at a big health food store or on line. http://www.humaworm.com/ (http://www.humaworm.com/) well they are I was told receiving 1000 orders a day.
They did deliver!! They were very slow but they make the herbs to order. They did not charge the credit card till they shipped. They called the house as we wanted a special order. Good luck calling!! I did get through after many days and times trying. You can just e-mail them and they send order form. I really like their herbs!!
http://www.greatdanelady.com/articles/feed_program_for_giardia.htm (http://www.greatdanelady.com/articles/feed_program_for_giardia.htm)
We have talked with other people that think they may have this giardia also. They say they are doing the de-worming also. You must do everyone and animal. imho
