Looks like we will get our new server tonight or tomorrow..
There should be little or no down time for GIM - it will be as seamless as possible..
I am finalizing the deal with our hosts and they will be calling me back..
They expect the new servers to arrive today and providing they do we will most likely get it tonight.. maybe tomorrow..
Dedicated III AMD Opteron 64 bit Server - we now have a 2200 mhz Celeron.
Duel Sata 10,000 rpm 80 gig drives.. in raid configuration.. very fast!
2 gigs of memory... we now have 1.5
Unlimited bandwidth
Connected to Multiple OC-3's not T3's but OC-3's one OC-3 = 100 T1's at 155 megabits a second and a T1 is 1.44
Nightly backup of our site - I was doing it by hand and had to download it and it was so time consuming that I only did it twice a month. Plus it was not nearly as reliable as what they will do by backing it all up when I just did the dbase (we would lose attachments from the posts).. This added 30 a month to our costs.. but takes a load off of me and adds stability in case of crash or infection from virus or worm.
Looks like our total costs for this server will be $230 a month with backups and our current setup is $160 with no backups.. so we are paying 40 more for this server and then we add the cost of backups 30 = 70 more a month than now..
Go out and do a search for dedicated III servers and you will see we are getting a great price..
I will also pay the 30 bucks for our vBulletin software so we can continue to update and get that for the next year..
We will have money left over and need to decide what to do with it.. I will let you know what the totals are and what is left after I get through paying for all of this - should be a good chunk left for next year or I could add some months...
