Aurelian Resources Inc.: Reports Assays Of Up To 63.5
Grams Per Tonne Gold Over 2.8 Metres Returned From The
Condor Project
TORONTO, ONTARIO--
Mr. Patrick Anderson reports
Aurelian Resources Inc. (ARU:TSXV) is pleased to announce the results of its initial sampling on its 100% wholly-owned Condor Project in southeastern Ecuador. Sampling details, including maps and photographs of the prospects listed below can be found at www.aurelian.ca (http://www.aurelian.ca)
The sampled prospects lie within the La Zarza, Princesa, Emperador 1 and Emperadora contiguous concession blocks. The prospects lie on a system of sub-parallel north-south structural breaks that are part of a regional fault structure in excess of 70 kilometres in length. The horizontal distance between the most
northerly prospect discussed below, Las Penas, to the most southerly, Emperador Sur, is 14.7 kilometres. The sampling is still preliminary in nature and should be considered as on-going. The prospects are sites of artesanal informal mining.
Aguas Mesas Sur prospect:
Recent sampling at this site has concentrated on a 15 m by 7.6 m wide and 15 m deep "glory hole" that is the northernmost pit at this prospect. This has been the focus of artesanal production since it was begun as a prospector's pit in October, 2002. The best sample previously returned from the site was 92.03 g/t
across 2.9 metres as reported by the Company's Qualified Person, Peter W. Stewart, P.Geo., Ph.D., in a 43-101 report which is available on SEDAR and at the Company's website. The recently sampled exposures have been excavated since then.
Fourteen mainly horizontal channel samples from 1.2 m to 3.3 m long were collected from all walls of the pit and within a short adit at the pit base. Sampling concentrated on the quartz-rich + iron oxide + clay/sericite rock that is quartz + pyrite veined
and/or silicified and has been moderately to strongly fractured. Quartz-poor, clay-rich pyritized exposures that resemble fault gouge contain up to 1.5 g/t Au. The sampling almost completely circumscribes the interior of the pit. The mineralization appears to be at least 15m wide. An average across the best four
contiguous channel samples yielded 26.75 g/t over 8 metres. Sampling was taken oblique to the apparent strike of the zone and was controlled by the pit wall.

Aguas Mesas Norte prospect:
This site is approximately approximately 1 kilometre north of Aguas Mesas Sur, and on the line of strike. It consists of a 100 + metre long trench, several adits, and a shallow vertical shaft. Nine mainly horizontal channel samples from 1.3 m to 3 m long were collected from the southernmost working, a pit approximately 15 m by 20 m in dimensions with a steep wall over 15 m to the east. This pit lies approximately south of the main trench. These
samples test for gold mineralization across an NW-striking zone of irregular quartz veining, silicification and brecciation.

Puente prospect:
This site is 4.9 km southwest of Aguas Mesas Sur. It consists of a series of artesanal miners' pits on a north-south oriented ridge. Artesanal mining only began in this area in February, 2003. The zone has not been previously sampled by Aurelian. It consists of repeated and crosscutting massive grey and white
quartz vein injections into a sericite-pyrite mylonite schist. The quartz veins (with variable disseminated pyrite) are typically tectonically brecciated. Shear ductile fabrics and cataclastic textures are common.

Emperador Sur prospect:
This prospect is 11.5 km south of Aguas Mesas Sur. This is a zone of propylitized and variably silicified andesite tuff and tuff breccias with finely disseminated pyrite. Informal miners sank a horizontal adit on this zone, commencing in March, 2003. At time of sampling the adit was over 30 metres deep into the hillside. A total of 29 channel samples were taken. Samples vary from 0.06 Ag/t Au over two metres to 8.92 g/t Au over two metres. Eighteen samples are greater than 0.5g/t Au, including nine samples
greater than 1g/t Au.
Las Penas prospect:
This is a zone of chalcedonic quartz-rhodochrosite veining that is colloform and cockscomb-textured with abundant evidence of hydrothermal brecciation. The veins are typically highly anomalous in arsenic, antimony, mercury, lead and zinc, as well as containing silver and gold. Las Penas is considered a
high-level epithermal zone. Previous sampling has yielded up to 70.6 g/t Au from grab samples taken at the muck pile of the small artesanal mine currently operating there. There are three shallow inclined shafts and a horizontal adit at this site. The quartz veins are up to 1 metre in thickness, but are more typically in
the 1-10 cm range, and lie within a zone of variably silicified and pyritized andesite host rock.
The Las Penas prospect is 3.2 kilometres NNW of Aguas Mesas Sur, and along strike. Two continuous chip samples and a grab sample were taken. The first chip sample was taken adjacent to the adit portal across a series of sheeted veins oriented at 124 degrees degrees and dipping 70 degreesS, and yielded 4.62 g/t Au across two metres. A second continuous chip sample taken from a new pit exposure approximately 100 metres away yielded 5.85 g/t Au across 1 metre; and 2.1 g/t Au from a random grab sample.
The Aguas Mesas Sur, Aguas Mesas Norte, and Puente prospects are zones of anomalous gold, silver and +/- tellurium mineralization. Arsenic, antimony, mercury and base metals are notably low to absent, which suggests that these zones are of different ineralization type to Las Penas. Tentative interpretation is that the structural corridor is a zone of long-lived and repeated
structural activation with superimposed mineralization events. Aguas Mesas Sur, Aguas Mesas Norte and Puente are considered mesothermal.
Only a small portion of the existing open workings at these sites have been sampled to date. However, Aurelian management is considerably encouraged by the results, which confirm the informal results from the artesanal operations. Aurelian continues to systematically sample all the open workings at the
prospects, and has also begun a pitting and trenching programme to test the continuity of the zones, prior to scheduled diamond drilling in the Fall. The zones discussed are along strike with the Ubewdy and Bonza zones on the La Zarza concession, which were
previously drilled by Climax Mining Ltd. ("Climax") when they held the property under option in 1997-98. The best intersection returned by Climax was 1.58 g/t Au across 115 metres (see filing statement). The zones sampled by Aurelian and discussed above
were not located by Climax and have not been sampled nor drilled. Taken in entirety, the seven zones sampled to date lie within 15.2 kilometres of the structural corridor.
Samples were collected and placed in new plastic bags and secured with single use secured ties. They were delivered by Aurelian staff to the ALS Chemex sample preparation facility in Quito. After crushing at the prep facility, a sample split was sent for analysis to Canada. Samples were analyzed in Canada by ALS Chemex
Laboratories Limited of Vancouver, B.C.
Before initiating the present exploration programme, Aurelian requested site visits and inspections by the Ministry of Energy and Mines of Ecuador. These artesanal operations are now officially designated by the government as unauthorized by Aurelian.
Peter W. Stewart, Ph.D., P.Geo. has verified the data disclosed in this press release. For further information on the Condor Project please refer to the geological report by Peter Stewart, dated April 16, 2003 listed at www.sedar.com (http://www.sedar.com/) and at the Company's website.
Work is at a preliminary stage and to date there has been insufficient exploration to define a mineral resource and it is uncertain if further exploration will result in discovery of a mineral resource on the property.
