Wow, I honestly didn't even know I could do such a thing.

Hey, if you had bought in large at $300 gold, and didn't sell at least some when gold gets to all time highs, then by all means hold your gold.

But I'd say a near 4 times return on investment is a good excuse to take some profit if one is so inclined. I suppose if one already had an excessive monthly income then one might not think it worthwhile to invest something into assets which yield a return.

But I have no such assets, and great as PMs are they only store wealth, they don't generate it.

I have to figure out how to do that I suppose

I'm really really puzzled by how you construe this as being anti-gold.

Like what? Certificates of deposit? Fail. Real estate? That hasn't worked out badly for me, actually (surprise, surprise.) Stocks with crashing share prices and falling dividends? Fail. The real problem here is that investments that pay rents, interest and/or dividends have been losers lately, thanks to the Fed. Speculations in precious metals have done better.

There are times when generating wealth is a huge challenge. Sometimes, I'm not sure it is even possible. And the best we can hope for is preserving what we have.
