My first purchase was with Tulving.
It was indeed a very interesting one. He was short with his answers both on the phone and with the email. But we receiveed our silver and gold promptly.

Our second purchase we had problems with getting the wire. There was a third party involved and it actually took about a WEEK of teeth pulling phone calls. Hannes was VERY patient and professional. He didnt have to wait...and he didnt have to listen to my sorrowful tales, but he did, and when we finally got the funds he shipped THE NEXT day. No delays.
The only downfall of ordering from him is the LARGE minimums:(

I trust Hannes 100%%%%%%. He is no frills, professional and honest!!

also, heres a question. We are on Hannes website EVERDAY. Has anyone else noticed the NEW disclaimers???
The last one he added was about postal and internet fraud!!
Do you think Hannes has been having problems with some new buyers??

I placed an order for palladium canadian maples. Price quoted was fair. The amount over spot was less than apmex or cni, and the order showed up
right on time. No hype, no bs, just good deals. I'm a new fan.

Being rather new to the market, I can sympathize with goldmoneybug's issues. Also, I've found that the veterans on this forum don't mind offering constructive advice to a newbie. They are in no way obligated to do so however. Having said that, I've seen only one real piece of constructive advice that goldmoneybug should probably follow.

AUNuggets said:
Maybe you should consider making any initial purchases on a much smaller scale until you get to the level of feeling comfortable with the dealer and the dollar transactions involved.

I had the chance to be able to meet Tulving's minimums when purchasing a while back but decided not to. One reason is that I, unlike many on this board, have a single chunk of funds to purchase with...when it's gone, I'm done. My regular income barely pays daily financial obligations, such as...eating. I didn't think it would be a good idea to dump that amount of money on a trade all at one time.

The other reason is that I realized that kind of dealing, experience-wise, was way out of my league, at least for now. It would be easy to make a mistake due to being unfamiliar with the way things are done at the high dollar level.

Instead, I've made several smaller purchases with APMEX. It's been fine. I'm currently resolving one issue with them, but it's no big deal. I think they're great. I would hate to be dealing with the same issue with a guy like Tulving, though!

Also, I think it would be a good idea to realize that as a newbie, you are still trying to develop trading relationships. BE VERY CAREFUL about assigning blame. Making enemies early is probably not a good idea.

Other than that... have a great day!:D

Am a longtime silent lurker by choice (decided to subscribe to PM someone in January), it is time to at least speak up for Hannes out of respect for a great guy/company. His service to 'bugs is a blessing in this world of NWT, Perth Mint and the like.

Hannes/Tulving is the real deal. Make no doubt about it, buy with 100% confidence. Like others said, Tulving will not hold your hand, no Chatty Kathy, etc. You call, say what you want and quantity, he gives you a price and go from there. Every transaction both buying and selling has been flawless. Yes, minimum buy in is high(ish), yet is now lower than before as he changed some of the policies for those who can not afford the 'big play'.

Real financial guys look at the spread (cost to acquire vs cost to sell). I challenge anyone to find a consistantly lower spread unless you are dealing with a direct major commodities market trading delivery (and even then there are intricacies and fees...). Sure, there may be a one-off special deal from Stanford or the like, yet get ready to deal with their salespeople calling you. Hannes has never called me (spam) to buy items. In fact during one Platinum deal we did a while back Hannes/Tulving sent me (knowingly) two MS70 1oz. PAE coins for the price of his usual $25 over spot MS69.

Apologies for this very long post, will go back to 'silent lurker' mode. Consider this post a show of thanks to Hannes, and to let everyone here know he may have the world's ugliest website (cringe), yet what more do you need than perhaps the best pricing, a phone number to call, and buy back prices should you ever need to sell.

Tulving has lowered there minimum to 5 ounces of gold. Very fast and easy delivery best prices I have found. If someone knows a place to buy at a lower price let's here it. I live in the Houston area and have not found any reasonable local dealers. Would like to buy some libertads but tulving doesn't handle them and Colorado Gold is out.

Perhaps self-assured may be a better word? Of course you think he is Pompas and fully respct your feelings. They say you can't please all the people all the time, and being a business person myself it is very much true no matter how hard one tries. There will also be that situation, or personality conflict where...

Tulving having best prices (check).
Send funds one day, get free shipping and the goods the next day (check).
Has in stock when he says he does (check)
Fast payment for goods when you sell to him (check)

Their fees kill the spread. Bullion Direct is about the same is this less than optimum situation versus Tulvin, yet agree both BD and Apmex are ok for small orders if you do not mind the TCA (total cost to acquire) being much higher over the spread versus Tulving. CNI is also ok, yet none are close to Tulving for an investor seeking to maximum their financial gain and who desires fast delivery.

Hopefully we can both agree that physical delivery is key. Just say no to 'paper bullion'.

Great to deal with. Agreed on product; wired funds; shipped product same day; received shipment six days later (including weekend). Very pleased!! Quick and simple.

I'm assuming you bought silver. His gold, platinum, and palladium order shipments are usually MUCH faster.

Actually your assumption is wrong. I was very courteous and kind when I tried to discuss a deal with him.... He was an ass to me...maybe he was having a bad day, I'll give him that...but he was an ass and had my contact info if he wanted to clear the air and earn a customer..he chose not to...which leaves me with no other option but to call him an ass...because he is.

Thanks for your 2 cents and good luck with your deals at Tulving...I'll continue with Apmex....They have always been as courteous and kind as I.

APMEX IS BEST IMHO.

Peace.

That's a positive development.
But what happened to pics on the web site? I see none in the gold/silver section.

Hi Ho, no insinuations, just an observation. I'm sure Hannes has his good and bad days like the rest of us. APMEX is indeed another great place to do business, and on smaller orders where Tulving charges a delivery/shipping fee, I'm sure their respective prices are pretty close.......not worth haggling over a few cents on small orders.

As far as photos on websites, they are usually just stock photos anyway, and in the end, usually better than the real thing in person, so no loss there. Tulving needs to clean up his website, no doubt. I miss the days when it was nothing but basic descriptions and buy/sell prices, straight list without all the attempted HTML cutesies.

Tulving and APMEX are at the top of my prefered dealer list, and have been for a long time, although there are sporadic deals to be had from the locals and at area coin shows.

Au...I was simply stating my opinion regarding Tulving.

I appreciate your fondness of both dealers. Again I was stating my opinion, not trying to make less of yours.

In the end get the best deal from wherever you are comfortable buying from. Now is the time to Back Up Da Truck!!

I've had 2 conversation experiences with Hannes Tulving. In each situation he was abrupt and rude--showed no desire to be customer oriented in any way whatsoever. That doesn't make it a bad place to buy--prices are great, but the experience was quite negative.

Hadn't been to the Tulving website in a long while from back when he upped his minimums to 1000 ounces silver and 20 ounces gold and I couldn't believe it!! His minimums are amazing--100 silver minimum with free shipping on the JM bar @ .59 cents over spot!! You can't beat that by any stretch. I don't care about rudeness, those prices are great and Tulving is definitely honest. WOW, what a change!

Just ordered 200 ASE's - 2008 from a monster box on July 30th. Paid 1.79 premium. I was given no order number, sent my check and it just cleared, so now I wait. Am I worried? Judging by this stream, and from what I have heard about Tulving, not in the least.

If you'll email them for a tracking number, you will get it. ( for silver.....gold he sends overnight, US registered mail )

He had a deal in July, so many ounces of gold and he threw in a silver eagle. I ordered an odd number of ounces, and he threw in an extra eagle.....didn't have too, just a class act, IMHO.

If you want to chat, call somebody else....but if you want the best price and delivery, call Tulving.

Tulving is king!
I bought from Kitco and Northwest Territorial Mint. Kitco is better than NWTM, though it's a bit more expensive. But both of them take a long time for delivery.
Kitco is more reliable, but it tells you straight up that it takes a very long time to ship. Tulving just plain rocks -- I have to admit, I was a bit nervous after wiring my money to them, but they shipped the silver to me earlier than they promised and gave me a tracking number when they said I could call back for one. I don't know, there may be other companies as good as Tulving, but it would be impossible to be any better. I'll ALWAYS order from Tulving from now on. This kind of service deserves to be praised in a forum like this.

Incidentally, I received my silver several days ago -- I know someone who ordered the same quantity (a mint box of silver eagles) a month before me and he's still waiting on his from NWTM.

Tulving (www.tulving.com) is the only place to order from (though I'm intrigued by Colorado Gold -- which has a great rating in this forum).

Oh, and I forgot to mention, Tulving was cheaper than both Kitco and NWTM. Be aware that they have 2 minimums -- one minimum without shipping and one with (which is only like $20, which is still better than most places).

It was a pleasure to give Tulving 5 stars!!!!!

I can call Hannes at 2AM on Sunday morning and lock in a deal at the close price from Friday if I am expecting Monday volatility. He answers the phone ALWAYS and as long as you know what you want and how to do the math, is very pleasant about it. You can call anytime and lock in the price at that time. You won't get a lot of chit-chat and it' best to have your price and your spreadsheet in front of you, then you can quickly verify the number is correct. Wire the money and you will see the physical exactly on time as described and no B.S. I am very happy with my dealings with Tulving.

Tulving shipped my order on August 5th, which was two days ahead of my expectations based on the Tulving Website. I suspect Tulving gives a range for Silver, then strives to beat it. I must say that the "worst case" (5 working days after payment is received) for Tulving is light years quicker (and at better prices) then the NWM.

Note I had a small order of 200 SAE's and he still beat his allready super tight shipping protocal by 2 days. Also note that my check cleared on August 4th, so that was one full day after the check cleared! Have not "received" the coins yet, but superb so far, I will give 5 stars upon receipt, have allready started to scrimp around for another few thousand bucks so I can order more!
