Default One down - Key Republican Group endorses Ron Paul

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

May 22, 2007

ARLINGTON, VA – The United Republicans of California (UROC) have unanimously endorsed Congressman Ron Paul for president of the United States. UROC, formed in 1963 to support Barry Goldwater, represents the traditional conservative wing of the California Republican Party.

"The unanimous endorsement from the United Republicans of California proves what the campaign has been saying all along," said campaign chairman Kent Snyder. "Ron Paul is the only true conservative and real Republican in the race."

In their official statement endorsing Dr. Paul, UROC called him "the leading advocate for freedom in our nation’s capital" and recognized that:

Ron Paul's voting record demonstrates that he has voted against:

· raising taxes;
· unbalanced budgets;
· a federal restriction on gun ownership;
· raising congressional pay; or
· increasing the power of the executive branch.

His voting record demonstrates further that he voted against:

· the USA Patriot Act;
· regulating the Internet; and
· the war in Iraq.

Dr. Paul is the only candidate with a record that matches the UROC’s platform.

"Whether the issue is life, the Second Amendment, foreign policy, spending or taxes, Ron Paul is the only traditional conservative candidate," continued Snyder. "Traditional conservatives across the country should support Ron Paul for president."

And that's a group of what, like five people, right?

Seriously though, it's a start! Join the revolution!

He is a conservative, far more so than the Republican party and he keeps saying that when interviewed, the "journalists" interviewing him are making his Libertarian sticker and the fact he is out of tune with the Republican party an issue.

He says, "they are out of tune."

He is prepared for them and it is encouraging.

People like his answers.

He is a true leader and more will follow.

Bet on it.

He might not stand a chance but he will get the message out, more people will wake up,
he may even give some clowns heart attacks.

Anybody who says Paul doesn't stand a chance hasn't been paying attention. He has massive, active support. The only real threat to Paul at this point is the possibility of rigged elections.

Another threat is ther rigged MSM. MCain, Guiliani and Romney get 100 times the exposure that Ron Paul gets.

Give Ron Paul 15 minutes on Meet the Press like the other guys get, and overnight he'll be at 15% in the mainstream polls.

wow. this is big news. the UROC is one of the bigger and definitely one of the wealthiest Republican organizations in California. lots of folks with deep American roots with lots of old money. my buddy's father is a member of this group and his family is loaded up the gazoo. this is good news, indeed.

i'm sure they'll find some ways to pull some strings here and there for RP.

This is exactly what I was hoping to see; traditional-style endorsements will force the media at least in some corners to cover Ron Paul. If it is true that this group is populated by affluent donors, we could be close to 'the tipping point.' Imagine if we find out at the end of this quarter that Ron Paul has a couple million in the bank? How would they be able to eliminate him from the pack?!

I saw a mitt romney ad on cnn in a primetime slot today. Was just thinking how great it would be to get Paul in spots like that and how much $ it would actually take. This guerilla campaign is great but it will take hard cash in the bank to move the main stream sheep. Most everyone i know has given $500-$1000 to the campaign. Just in my little circle thats probably close to $15k.

Creep, while I do not want to make any particular predictions at this time because that will put in the jinx, I think a lot of people are going to be very surprised at how much Ron Paul raises in this quarter. The next phase will require those of us who can to contribute past the personal limit by banding together to form PACs. There is no way around this. As I wrote before, I have not any idea what the procedure is for doing so (FEC registration, etc), but I know that it will become necessary.

We will need people like Mel Gibson to help us; he made a lot of money a few years ago and now is a perfect chance for him to help win back America.

No no, just what I went on to say: PACs. If for instance some meetup groups become large and effective, they can establish a PAC (e.g. Triad Citizens for Smaller Government) and members could fund it well past $2 300 a person. The director of the PAC then send the money to Ron Paul (there is a limit on this I think but it is much higher than that of the individual).

Part of the reason monsters like Giuliani raise so much money is that large money donors give several times through PACs. They rig the election process to make it impossible for non-establishment candidates to win because of this but this time there is enough support to beat them in spite of their rules.
