Film maker and former presidential candidate Aaron Russo has a simple piece of advice for Ron Paul should he wish to continue the amazing momentum that the Texas Congressman's campaign has built up over the last few weeks - attack Rudy Giuliani.
Russo, producer of the hugely popular documentary America: From Freedom to Fascism, is currently battling against cancer and used his extensive experience of political campaigning and knowledge of how the media operates to advise the Texas Congressman on his strategy for the next debate, which is to be held on August 5th.
"I spoke to Ron and I think what Ron has to do right now is go after Rudy Giuliani," Russo told the Alex Jones Show.

I think the way the press played what happened in the last debate is that they made it out to be as if Ron Paul gave Rudy Giuliani the election and hand him a gift....but if you understand the press and the way things work in this country it's the other way around - Giuliani gave Ron Paul the election."
Russo said that Giuliani elevated Ron Paul by attacking him and gave him a prominence that he would not otherwise had achieved, adding that Giuliani opened the door for the Texas Congressman to go after him.
Russo, who himself ran for Governor of Nevada in 2002 and as a candidate for the presidency under the Libertarian Party banner in 2004, has personally advised Ron Paul to go on the attack and escalate his feud with Giuliani to create another flashpoint for the press to report on.

"The fact is that when people walk away from that debate, if Ron attacks Rudy properly in a smart way, the press is going to write all about it," said Russo, adding that Ron Paul should replicate Giuliani's tactic of speaking out of turn to attack the former New York Mayor on his record, because it would immediately become apparant that the Texas Congressman has guts.
Russo agreed that Paul should attack Giuliani on his rampant profiteering from 9/11 and his complicity in covering up the toxic dust scandal as well as his flagrant disregard for firefighter's remains that were ordered to be "scooped and dumped" in a landfill after fellow firefighters were threatened with arrest if they tried to interrupt the ground zero clean up procedure.


Russo also forecasts that the next debate will be just as rigged as the Fox news debacle, and that a concerted effort to sideline Ron Paul will be made.
"It's my opinion they're going to try and bury him in the next debate and not give him much time," concluded Russo.

I think Paul should set him up with certain comments, wait for a reaction from him and then light a fire under his ass!!

I would question him openly about many of his neo-con issues and let him incriminate himself. I would also question him about his mishandling of the 911aftermath and question his ethics relating to his party.

I think Dr. Paul should avoid mud-slinging like the PLAGUE.

I agree that he should put the heat on Ghouliani; but he should give up his high moral ground. If he deviates from the truth, and starts slinging mud, he'll be playing their game...

Ron Paul needs to make sure he doesn't become "the Voice" for the fringe, this will hurt him very badly, he needs to go mainstream. Didn't Bush ignore his political foes?

The Honorable Ron Paul doesn’t need to play political grandstanding games.

Those games are for politicians not Doctors. Ron’s strengths are his track record, current diagnosis of where we’re heading and solutions to the problems we’ve created for ourselves.

It may seem like a silly little song but it will get played in the coffee houses that this guy sings in I bet. Now if one of the big stars were to write a song and it became a hit = big exposure..

I agree completely. I do think, however, that Paul should take it to Rudy by aggressively following up on their heated exchange from the last debate. He should pointedly ask whether or not Rudy has read the official 9/11 commission report, then sit back and be ready to pouce. If the answer is "no," then pounce with "what kind of presidential candidate, especially one who wraps himself in 9/11 heroism, would not bother to read such an important report?" If the answer is "yes" (which it ought to be), then pounce with "then were you lying or just ignorant in the last debate when you said you'd never heard anyone suggest that 9/11 had something to do with our foreign policy -- because that's exactly what the report said."

Ron Paul should be Ron Paul and resist excessive handlers and obsessive coaching: Reagan almost got killed by his handlers in 1983 during one debate with Mondale because his handlers wanted to make him look "smart" by filling his head with stats and such. Well, Reagan came off like a robot with loose bolts and belts - very unsettling. It damaged his image - temporarily. Ron Paul need only continue to speak truths to the people - their clarity and blazing glow are sufficient to show the others for what they are: ideologic dust and shadows. Besides, it is not in the character of a Ron Paul to engage in one-on-one challenges or be confrontational. He is far more statesman-like in his approach, appealing to general principles of freedom, mutual respect, the rule of law and reverence for the will of the people. Let's leave well enough alone - if it ain't broke don't fix it.
