GOP fund-raiser Georgette Mosbacher blasted President Bush's Hollywood critics late Tuesday for moralizing about the Iraq war while simultaneously honoring scandal-scarred moviemaker Roman Polanski with an Oscar for Best Director.
"[Celebrities] have been asking why no one pays attention to them," Mosbacher told nationally syndicated radio hosts John Batchelor and Paul Alexander. "I have an answer for them."
Then the flame-haired Republican leveled both barrels and blasted away:
"When, on the most important night in their industry, they give their most coveted trophy to a director who is a convicted child molester and a fugitive from justice ... you can't seriously respect people's opinions who would give a standing ovation to a child molester."
The blunt-talking GOP'er went on to excoriate anti-war gadfly Michael Moore, who snagged the Best Documentary award, as "a buffoon," and then slammed Hollywood for honoring Best Song Oscar winner Eminem, describing the anti-social rapper as "an entertainer who spews hate, violence, prejudice."
"That's another reason why they're not taken seriously," Mosbacher explained.
