With great pleasure, I once again bring you Stefan Molyneux, whose 16-minute and four-second video is probably the most dangerous video on the Internet. It speaks for itself.

I like this guy and his delivery, he uses logic like a kung fu master.

The state is dead. They just don't know it yet.
This is where they get dangerous.

Watching right now.

My first critique is that the video presents images of Slavery in America while talking about slavery at the beginning of the agricultural revolution. But, the slavery in its inception was much nicer to slaves in comparison to later European colonialist treatment of slaves. This is one reason I don't like videos.

Stefan is one of my favorites. Be sure to read his many good articles on Lew Rockwell:

And at Strike the Root:

Great video, thanks for posting it.

I am glad to see him refer to the system we have now as "state capitalism" rather than simply capitalism, it shows he has a clear understanding of the fact that this is not true capitalism.

The conclusions it reaches in which he compares citizens to human livestock are well founded. Statism means we're owned by a sort of immortal king; the State. Freedoms and rights that are tied to certain pieces of land are just part of the "free range" they give us.

A couple of interesting quotes from the vid:

"Nationalism is pimped-out bigotry designed to provoke a Stockholm Syndrome in the livestock."

So true. Sheep fighting over which one's farm is better.

"The opposite of ideology is not a different ideology, but clear evidence and rational principles."

Rational principles. Those seem to be in short supply these days.

Haha, Purgatory for sure.

Comes down to the majority taking the relative "safety" of the farm rather than venturing past the fence into this unknown "freedom". "Civilization" can't exist without the "farm". Without it we'd be mere savages living day to day only to survive. The "farm" has to exist in some fashion, the problem is who runs the "farm"? "Corporation" or "Cooperative"? It's pretty clear the "Corporation" has been running things for a few hundred years.

I don't know. I think the real difference is whether you work at the farm or whether you are owned by the farm.

If you do choose to work at a farm, you shouldn't necessarily own it, but it shouldn't own you, either.

What's the difference? It's just a mental perception by the livestock.

How would "freedom" be defined? Not working at one of the farms? If you don't work at one of the farms, what's left? If one of the farms were to say, that's it, you're all free (not productive enough to manage), we quit, the farm is dissolved. Wouldn't that leave anarchy? Is anarchy freedom?

As always, fascinating stuff. Slavery of man is not most folks conceive of with our country. It is well hidden. The free range aspect is so true.

We have been productive slaves, have we not.

This may be coming to an ending.

Things are accelerating.

The real difference is if you know the remedy.

Where there is hope, there is freedom.

I believe humanity was much better off when we lived with, respected and loved the natural world. We were not savages, we were much more humane than we are as "civilized" beings, and certainly less arrogant.

Ishmael had it right.

I just watched the 3rd part, great video! very clear and concise. never thought of us a human livestock before, or countries as farms, but it does strike true with me. Work more so we can take more, own more so we can take more, be free to fill up yourself with various drugs and women and vices, whatever you want, but don't leave the race of the rats because we need the wheels to keep spinning. Getting burned out form the race to make money/products for us, we'll start a war or some other "crisis" to make you appreciate the farm again. Statism is a plague on this earth.

But oh well, who the hell is John Galt?

To answer your first question, the difference is that, if we were truly free, it wouldn't be just a perception. It is a perception now because you can't put your freedoms into practice. As the video says, they make it so difficult to do certain things, like move to another country, work outside the farm, take your money with you, etc, that even though it's not actually a possibility for 999 out of 1000 cows, the illusion of freedom remains for all.

If you didn't need passports and licenses you'd have an actual chance to exercise your right to work and freedom of movement. Which, to answer your second question, would more closely fit any definition of freedom than what we have today; nationalistic cattle, defending the names they've been branded with rather than their freedom.

Freedom, however, does not imply freedom from your stomach. Being free from the need to somehow fill the old bag with food is not a reasonable definition, imo.

He has really been prolific. 293 videos listed at U-Tube: http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=stefbot&view=videos

His books are free in several formats including audio formats, or you can order printed and bound copies: http://www.freedomainradio.com/free/

Of course, this would all be old stuff if you had already read the deep libertarian/anarchist writings labeled "Terra Libra" found at the site http://www.buildfreedom.com - especially the "Clear Your Mind" reports: CLEAR YOUR MIND REPORTS

Start with reports #07b #TL07B: The Nature of Government
and
#TL06: Discourse on Voluntary Servitude

What point in humanity are you describing? Even the native Americans in my opinion still worked on the "farm", only difference is that it was a "cooperative" with eveything being done for the sake of the tribe and everyone had "ownership" in the resources. What I describe as "savages" is being truly "free" from everything, working for nothing but ones self. It just doesn't work. Without working together in some capacity, "civilization" can't exist.

Interesting points, but the sheeple need practical nuts-and-bolts type guidance rather than general philosophical principles.

We have a leadership vacuum. The first person who realizes this will become a great leader and guide the sheeple from this abyss we are currently in.

A sophists view of civilization, the "farming people matrix" diatribe was especially entertaining.

Remids me of a "Fifth Estate" flyer being handed out at a Berkeley coffee shop ....

What logic exactly? He starts the video off with an appeal to emotion. With his great misunderstanding of what slavery was in the past. He then goes on to say that we are like farm animals due to humanities ability to produce more then their necessities. But so what, is there a problem with this? What exactly is the problem with societies that came together to better manage society and move humanity forward? Would he have preferred to live in the stone ages? I'm sorry, but I can't imagine that tribes of men (which I would classify as a state) would somehow, without any leadership, manage to build cities or any other public works such as granaries without dissolving into constant quibbling. Sometimes, management produces better results than if every party acted in their best interests.

Later he goes on to say that Western society has become some sort of free-ranged farm, in that we are given rights and freedoms, but every single society has given rights and freedoms to its citizens. Whether or not governments are providing them. In the absence of governments these rights will be given by force and/or by majority rule. Well I'm sorry, but I prefer minority rights that are guaranteed by governments.

And then he has audacity to state that his philosophy is the only right one with the only right be called so, because he came to these conclusions with reason and principles. To me all he was doing was drawing a negative analogy as a way to satiate his personal convictions.
