Odyssey extends gold potential Tavsan project in TurkeyOdyssey Resources has reported that a field program has begun at the company's Tavsan gold property located in western Turkey.

Tavsan hosts disseminated sediment-hosted epithermal gold mineralization that has been documented over a strike length in excess of 3.5 kilometers. The area is home to several past- and currently productive mineral deposits, including coal, borates, silver, antimony and more, and as a result the area hosts all infrastructure necessary for mine development.

Acquired from Teck Cominco earlier this year, the property hosts several mineralized zones that were partly explored by Teck Cominco in the 1990s, one of which Teck Cominco estimated to contain an unclassified and pre 43-101 resource of 280,000 ounces at a grade of 1.15 grams per ton of gold, with a cutoff of 0.5 grams per ton and an average specific gravity of 2.57. The zone is widely exposed at surface, as are most of the other targets across the property.

Odyssey is now preparing to carry out a comprehensive mechanized trenching program along a two kilometer strike length, including the Main Zone and beyond, to quantify the full extent and concentration of gold within this span of the shear zone.
